I've had an abcessed tooth for 3 years. The gums opened a drain in my gums itself and the pain and swelling came and went several times before finally I had to go to the dentist. I got antibiotics which didn't fully kick the infection and a root canal was done. The infection was so bad that it's still in the bone and it hurts. They had mentioned previously an apioectomy? I don't have the money for anything and I'm getting strange blurred vision, headaches, tingly face, and I'm not sure if it's related, but the swelling and pain returned at the same time that these symptoms came about. I'm scared that I may get a brain infection and die... is that possible? Where can I go for help?

People have died from tooth infections. Go to a dentist and ask if you can make payments. Or see your local assistance office or ask a church for help.

It is definitely possible for an infection to spread into your brain. I would go to your dentist first, and then maybe a hospital. It may take more than one specialist to figure things out and how to get rid of the infection.

Sounds like a dental emergency to me. Even if you get the tooth removed, you should see the Dentist immediately. If you can't afford a plan and dental treatment try contacting your county health department or a college dental school in your area. Some dental plans offer immediate dental care. I have listed some of these discount dental plans below.

You can get a blood infection called sepsis (not sure of the spelling). It really can kill you, and it is hard to beat if you don't get it taken care of early. It can spread the infection throughout your body and into your other organs. You really need to get some help, I think.

absolutely!
if the drain blocks up the pus will travel through your tissues (cellulitis) down to your heart and kill you.
this could happen anytime.
have a nice (short) life!
