Because Christianity is in a state of decay. It is more conviniant to go to church on Sunday, so we do it and ignore what God said to do. I think there are other commandments that many Christians ignore. How about not killing? Don't many Christians suport abortion? We follow the laws when we like them and throw them out when we don't.

Technically, Christians are not held to follow the Ten Commandments. Jesus' death removed the old LAW covenant "the Ten Commandents" from Christians and instituted his new law of Love. Read the Bible more and don't go by what other people say. From the day Jesus was Resurrected the Previous Law was made obsolete, but was kept and referred to as principals or guidance, but not Law. Read how the law he states In Matthew 22 below compares with the original in Exodus chapter 20. The first commandment is the same but the second is different.

The comment in the list which says
"Ten Commandments are ten laws which God unilaterally imposed upon the human race " is not true. (Exodus 20)
They were Laws given to only the Nation of Israel to set them apart for the other nations of lawlessness around them. The Whole human race was not included in that discussion at the mountain with Moses and AAron, only the nation of Israel was. When the old Nation of Israel Rebelled against Jesus, that covenant relationship with that nation also disappeared. That is why the temple and the Most Holy [where the ten commandments were kept] was WRENT in two during Jesus death.

The Sabbath is from the first star (becoming visible) Friday night until Saturday night. This is the
Sabbath. Most Christians (with the exception of a few denominations) follow the ancient practice
of keeping holy Sunday (because of the Resurrection). You must remember the first Christians
were Jews as well. They still went to the Temple (in fact the Bible tells of the Apostles
converting people while there) and followed much of the Jewish Sabbath practices. However,
they also made Sunday a day of worship. This is when they would have their Eucharistic liturgies
etc... So, for early Christians there was no real problem with keeping the Sabbath, they "went"
both days (including the Sabbath day "Saturday"). Over time, as the new Christian Church and
the Jewish "church" began to pull apart, the Christians stopped going to Sabbath (Saturday)
Temple, many were no longer welcome (and some were driven out for being Christian). This
led to fewer and fewer people going to true Sabbath events. Over time Sunday was left as the
only "Holy Day". Eventually, the Church in the first few hundred years (i forget the exact date
and am to tired to check one of my books but if you want it i will look) declared Sunday to be the
"new Sabbath". This is how most Christians see the Sabbath, as Sunday. In Biblical history
though, the Sabbath is actually "Saturday". So is God mad at Christians for not keeping the true
Sabbath; as Christ said "I did not come to end the Law, but to fulfill it." ? I would say no. He also
says, in short, it is not the letter of the law which counts, but what is written in your heart. In
other words, as long as your not "keeping holy the Sabbath" because you are "sticking it to God"
or some other unholy reason, God will not judge you for it. This is a tricky subject to understand
(because we are human and dont fully understand God's mind.) I would point you, as i pointed
someone else on here, to Romans chapter 2 in order to understand why i think God will not judge
most for "blowing off" Saturday. I hope this helps, i can be confusing haha.
God bless

I have see many Christians that spout the Ten Commandments, yet do not remember them on Saturday night. The Commandments, it would seem, were a guide to humans cooperating, in order to survive! Without cooperation, the human species will die out. Sabbath keeping, in many parts of the world, would seemingly hurt others, rather than help them, such in the example of Medical teams that need to help the dying on Sabbath. What one does from the heart with love, seems to be the main event here on Earth, not just lying around on a day of rest.

why do 90% of christians enfforse all the ten commandments but 1 (sabbath keeping)?

by your question I assume you are calling Saturday the sabath.

Jesus talked about the rules of sabath and condemed the Jews of the day for making it of no effect by there traditions & legalism.

Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath [days]:
Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body [is] of Christ.

Labeling a SAT or SUN is of little importance since it is a shadow.
but keeping the spirit of the sabath is the important thing.

The fourth commandment requires a higher level of submission to God than the other nine commandments because the fourth commandment requires man to rest at an appointed time. The Sabbath commandment sticks out like a "sore thumb" in a world that never stops. When God said, "Thou shalt not commit adultery, bear false witness, covet, steal or kill," these laws are self-evident and considered socially reasonable. Most people agree that these are laws everyone should live by. When God said, "Thou shalt not have any other Gods before me," this also seems self-evident within the Christian community since Christianity is a mono-theistic religion. But, when God said, "Do no work on the seventh day," this commandment seems uniquely unreasonable to most people. Why? Especially in today’s society, Sabbath observance forces the believer into a very awkward position. If a person refuses to work on the seventh day because he wishes to honor God, what impact does that have on his or her colleagues at work? What impact does it have on an employer? What impact does the action have socially? What impact does it have in a home where the spouse or other family members do not understand?

Because Sabbath observance is commanded in the Ten Commandments, it makes Sabbath observance a legal matter. In God’s sight, disregarding the observance of Saturday is just as wrong as killing, adultery, stealing or lying. In spite of all this, most Christians do not observe Saturday as God’s holy day. To understand how this change occurred, we need to briefly review a bit of early church history. By A.D. 50, the governing Roman’s hatred for the Jews had grown very intense and Christians were regarded as a sect of Judaism. To distance themselves from their Jewish roots, Christians in Rome were moving away from Sabbath observance and eventually abandoned the "Jewish" Sabbath altogether. Over time, the Church of Rome became dominate throughout Europe and Sunday became the official day of worship. Many Christians today erroneously believe that Sunday is the Lord’s day and claims of sacredness for Sunday are extracted from "the voided Sabbath commandment."

The fourth commandment is law, a legal declaration made by our Creator, the King of Kings. The fourth commandment is also a test to see if we will yield and humbly obey God.

The fourth commandment is a part of God’s decalogue and working on Sabbath is also considered a sin in God’s sight. It makes no difference whether we agree with God’s declaration or not, Sabbath observance is a legal mandate upon the whole human race. (See Lev 4:13,14.) Contrary to what most people think and most preachers say, the Ten Commandments are not "ten suggestions" that everyone should consider every now and then. Instead, the Ten Commandments are ten laws which God unilaterally imposed upon the human race and He will judge every person by these ten commandment standards. (Eccl 12:13,14) Men may neglect, reject or deny the obligation of the Ten Commandments, but God reads every human heart. He knows our rebellious ways and He will deal with each of us accordingly on judgment day.

First of all sabboth keeping was only given to the Jewish people, it was part of the covenant with God. Nowhere in the new testament are we told to keep the Sabbath. As born again Christians, Christ has done it all for us at Calvery, we are now entered into His rest.
Also re the 10 commandments, the RC church has taken the second commandment OUT of their teaching! and made the tenth commandment into two! Can you believe that!
The second commandment tells us NOT to worship idols, but it is a very lucrative business for them selling idols, so they have removed that commandment.
Dont believe me? Check it out on the Vatican website!

ignoring your stats totally, most religions follow the lead of the catholic church, and therefore believe that it is authoritised. have you ever thought why Sunday church goers repute the so called "old testament laws", why they say we arent under OT laws but under grace. it sfunny, the only commandment that starts with "remember" is the only one christians seem to forget. to believe this means to change what 90% of christians in the world believe, that means also not eating pork, not working on sabbath (sunset friday to sunset saturday) do you think most christians are willing to do this? of course not, it is more comfortable for sunday worshipping christians to keep on observing sunday and not acknowledging the sabbath, but the truth is eternal and cannot be ignored. if you want to read how serious God is about the sabbath read Numbers 15: 32. if sunday keepers were shown the truth, which is from God, untampered with by man, they would accept the sabbath. im not saying anything wrong about people who worship on sunday but i do say this, "do not take your religion as it comes to you, take the time to research for yourself what it actually belives in, and remember nothing is more authoritative the bible, not ellen white, the pope, mohammed, allah and believe it or not, not even president BUSH!!"

"Christian" is a word coined centuries ago to designate followers of Christ". In the Bible (Exodus 13 verse 9) God says that keeping the Sabbath is a "sign" between Him and His people. That means that if we don't keep the Sabbath we are not one of His people. Jesus kept the Sabbath. People that call themselves "Christian" and do not keep the Sabbath are liars. They are false Christians!

It's not about enforcing commandments. Hardly any Christians try to enforce them (except maybe among their kids or something). It's about trying to please God. Biblical Christians also do not believe that following the rules is the way to Heaven. Through faith, not works. But, you're right. Many Christians do not keep the Sabbath. I'm not sure if you're referring to just not going to church in general, or not going on Saturday, but both are issues that many people have. The important thing is, going to church is not detrimental to salvation. Christians go to church to come to a greater understanding of God and grow in relationship with him, as well as fellowshipping with fellow believers.
