I've been told women should cut their hair shorter as they age. What are your thoughts?

i say whatever looks good on you and your head/face shape is what u should do!......however, it is strange to see someone 50+ with LONG hair. i do like short & sassy hair cuts when the hair starts to get that salt & pepper color.besides who wants hair when u go thru hot flashes?

In my opinion, usually post-menopause is when women prefer short hair. The natural sheen, natural oils, and the thickness of the hair diminishes a great deal after menopause. When a woman is younger, long hair still looks pretty. However, when the hormones stop producing, and the hair begins to look dull, brittle, and very "bedraggled," shorter hair dos are more attractive.

At whatever age she pleases!

My friend told me that women over 40 shouldn't wear frosted lipstick. Silliest thing I've ever heard.

I am 53 years old. My hair is short, but only because it hasn't grown out from chemo. BUT IT'S PURPLE! I think some people might say I'm too old for that, but I don't think so.

Some of the most beautiful women I've ever seen were well over seventy, with long, flowing white hair.

I think it depends on the individual person. and how they take care of there hair. I have seen women that do not take care of their long hair and its has knots and you can tell they have not brushed there hair and that can be any age those women should have long hair. I think when a women's hair starts to thin is a good time to get it short. Because you can make short hair look full.

I don't know a particular age, but I was wondering this myself recently. I have know very few older women who could pull off long hair. It usually tends to look kind of silly. But I don't think all middle-age and older women need to have super short hair either...I'll be interested to see the answers!
