I am an ex-navy, active duty and I can tell you the Air Force is the cream of the crop for benefits, duty stations and promises.

I can't speak for today but the army used to have a little trick they played with "guarantees". I wasn't in the army but friends were. One was guaranteed airborne and he got it..he was the only one..Here's what happened to others. They get through boot camp and AIT andget sent to school then go on KP...then they tell them there isn't an opening in their school just yet but they will get in as soon as there is. So maybe more KP or other work parties. This keeps up sometimes for months. The work parties get old. Person complains. They say well..We guaranteed you this school and we are going to give it to you we just dont have an opening yet. This keeps up til they finally say.."well if you really don't want this school we can send you to motor transport school" or infantry..or something else they never really wanted. So they get the person to sign off on the guaranty just to get out of the shitty work details and into SOME kind of real job. Like I said..this may not be the case today but in the past it happened a lot and the army was notorious for it. By the way..I was in the Marine Corps..they never promised anything.
I will say my daughter joined the air force and she picked her mos, she tested for it, was approved, was on her enlistment papers, and that's what she got...so they followed through...at least that time.

Air Force is the best branch of the military for fulfilling its promises. I worked in Personnel for four years.

From what I Understand the Air Force treat their recruits the best.. They seem to have a lot of budgetary money, so this allows them to fulfill what they promise.

Promises? None of them.
Guarantees? US Army.
All the branches will make "promises", but what REALLY counts is the guarantees that are put down in writing.
I'm retired Army, have been stationed on Air Force bases (good housing and food, but that's it), been to Navy bases (not impressed with the attitude), and have talked with Marines (went to an Army school with a Marine). Of all the people I have talked to, NONE of them were satisfied, and ALL of them thought another branch had a better deal.
Find out what is best for you, and who will put what in writing. Remember, if it ain't written down, it ain't worth squat.

Recruiters are headhunters. There job is to get you in no matter what. They'll promise you almost anything to meet their quota. Get all promises in writing, with an option to be released from duty honorably, if the promised
job assignments are not fulfilled.

I'm a US Army Ranger.
Promises? Promises are just words, no branch keeps promises.
Guarantees? Guarantees are the same as promises only that they're on paper and therefore MUST be upheld.
Promies - None.
Guarantees - US Army.
Go Army, that's where you make the real difference.
-Cheers!

The Army. It's the only branch that guarantees you'll get the specific job you signed up for. You can also get certain secondary schools in your contract. The rest of the branches will TRY to get you the school of your choice, but won't GUARANTEE them.
Now, if you're talkin about treatment, the Air Force is likely the best one to go for. It's a cakewalk for training, and you'll have better programs for education, and furthering yourself professionally. They tend to treat their personnell better than other branches.

OK, you know a recruiter is lying when his/her lips are moving. :) The truth is, that even if you get what is promised, it may not be like you thought it was going to be. These days, no one can promise you that you won't be deployed during your enlistment because no one is safe from that. All occupations are needed. I've done my time in theater, and my specialty was Spanish. :) Secondary MOS 11B :)
