I want the program that the military devised for pilots and astronauts in training, to develop maximum lung capacity. It's a step by step procedure, organized as only the military can do it, and my uncle credited it with getting him back on his feet quickly after a bad bout with pneumonia. Another family member needs it now. I've tried to find it on line, but there is so much stuff out there that I don't know where to start first!

Does anyone remember the Air Force Breathing Exercises? Are they still being used? Please help me to find them if you can. They are badly needed. If you just remember a name or book title please post it! Thank you.

I served in the USAF from 1994-1998. I wasn't a pilot, I was a poor little enlisted scrub. But, I know that that the AF suggests weight training, with cardio, endurance activities. Now, I think your question revelovles around the positive pressure breathing technique? That would be rapid inhalation, followed by rapid exhalation while tensing all the major muscle groups. Now, most pilots do the 1-2 hour of pre-breathing of pure 100% oxygen. Personally, I think you should look into yoga.
