are you a martial art practitioner? if so, what type? why not buy one that will complement your art?

they're all very cool but without any instructions in their use they'll only be wall decoration

since i practice aikido, i own a bokken, a katana, a jo ( 4 foot staff ), tanto

will buy a naginata, a spear and wakizashi, because i'm interested in learning how to use them, and it's a natural extension from my current existing weapons

if you are a beginner, buy a bokken ( a wooden sword ) because you can practice slashing and stances all by yourself ( after learning how to hold a sword properly first )

if you're buying them for value, naginata will look impressive hanging from a wall, a katana will look nice on a pedestal

bokken because it look like a toy. It can actually cut skin and shatter bone if you know basic anatomy.

However if you plan to swing it at head like drunk hill billy then stick to a combat knife. Rest of those stuff will get you arrest.
