Only under the care of a physician. I am a disabled person with Chronic Pain. I can't take normal over the counter pain relief because they have caused me kidney damage. When I was in the hospital, taking Tramadol I was once given 5 mg of Valium before a medical procedure.

When in doubt, don't. Valium may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. These effects may worsen if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Valium with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it. Do not drink alcohol or use medicines that may cause drowsiness (e.g., sleep aids, muscle relaxers) while you are using Valium; as it may add to their effects. Tramodol is one of the drugs you shouldn't mix with valium or alcohol. Refuse to become dependant on drugs whenever possible. Try replacing valium with valerian root, which is the herb it is extracted from just as heroin is extracted from opium, so to speak. You didn't mentionb what your particular health challenge is, but it sounds like you are messing your body up and need to rethink your management plan. Valium is incredibly addicting, and a no fun to get off of, so stop now and try valerian herb, and rebalance your body now by avoiding refined sugar, caffeine, and foods you may have allergies to which are the most likely culprit of the symptoms your doctor initially used as an excuse to get you onto the merry go round of drug addiction that turns you, as a patient, into a money making machine for his business. The ideal is to keep a food diary and figure out what is causing the symptoms you are looking to relieve. Otherwise you may suffer many aches and pains in what should be your golden years... or even meet with an early death because of complications they cause and live a short, depressed and self destructive 'life' or something like it.
