I have a computer with Celeron D processor. Recently I formated the hard disk. I tried to reinstall Windows 98, which couldn't be done. After all the installation process was completed it showed windows protection error. Same with Win XP. But Win ME was installed properly. Why couldn't I install Win 98 or XP in this computer.

First use a bootabale floppy disk for windows 98 to re-format the computer. If it doesnt installs then use bootable cd-rom for windows xp. it will automatically format ur hard disk into fat32 or ntfs(if u dont want ever to install 98) and check the drive for any possible errors. i m sure this will work out.

Celeron iscrap get a pentium.

Don't know why id didn;t work. Youshoud reinstall the operating system that came with the computer not something you want. That should work. If not try going to best buy and ask the geek squad.

fdisk it too? FAT16 , FAT32 or NTSF try again with WIN98 it would probably take 3 time or more.
