I was put under when mine were pulled, so it didn't hurt when it happened. It will hurt for a while after you wake up though

It all depends on how they are pulled.

I had a wisdom tooth that had to be pulled out on more of an emergency basis. After one shot of novacain, the dentist tried pulling it out, but there was so much pain, I almost jumped out of the chair. It was so decayed that it had to be removed surgically (drilled, then extracted in pieces) and my gum needed a stitch. It took 4 shots of novacain and the gas and I still felt almost everything.

That line about "pressure, not pain" is a bunch of baloney.

I had the other 3 removed while under general. That worked so much better. Very little pain even after I woke up. It's definitely the way to go. It is more expensive, though.

If I ever have to get another tooth removed without being put under, I think the best thing to do would be to get really drunk first.

Well, you usually have the choice to be put to sleep when they do this so by the time you wake up the teeth will be out and it doesn´t hurt much after this. You should probably get your wisdom teeth pulled out now before they grow in because it hurts when they grow in anyway.

I'd say it depends on the dentist. When I got my first one pulled, it hurt like crazy. I was dreading getting the second one pulled. Someone suggested a different dentist. The second one didn't hurt at all.

However, when the pain medication wears off it does hurt for several days. It's also very hard to eat, but within a week everything is usually back to normal.

When pulling a tooth I tell patients you should feel pressure, not pain. If you feel any pain, let the dentist know. He'll stop and give you more anesthetic. If you want, you can be asleep for the extraction. You fall asleep, wake up, and the procedure's over with. Of course you'll be sore for the next few days. You're going to do fine.

When I got them out a year ago, I was dazing with all the gas they had me sniffing so I didn't hurt...even though I woke up and was conscious of them pulling my teeth out for like 10 seconds.
But no it doesn't hurt because you're gonna on gas but it will get very irritating afterwards with all the swelling for like a week and you can't talk like a normal human being without being funny.

It doesn't hurt at the time of extraction because you are given local anaesthatic, but after sometime you will get pain. But your doctor should prescribe you pain killers. You will be having problem eating for a week or less.

Go ahead with the extraction, don't worry!

it really depends on the dentist. You should never feel pain during the procedure, only pressure. Someone else suggested getting drunk before yu have it done, bad idea. That will cause you to bleed more, therefore it will take longer to heal afterwards. good luck, I'm sure you'll do fine!
