Does anyone have any suggestions for making my hair softer and silkier? Right now it feels like straw. Any good products you know of?

Just get a really good conditioner, but try this, after you put it on, wrap your head with a warm wet towel and let it set for about 30 minutes

K-Pak by Joico. Shampoo at night, towel dry your hair, apply about 1 tablespoon of the K-Pak, cover your hair and go to sleep. Rinse in the morning. In about 5 days your hair will be back to normal. Considering all that the hair has been through, it just takes a while for it to "normalize". K-Pak is a salon product (the world's best selling conditioner that you have never heard of). It has brought many of my clients hair back to life. BTW, conditioning CAN dry out your hair if it is not the right product for your hair type. Do talk to a professional.

Put mayo in your hair and wrap it with plastic bag for an hour then rinse it out but dont wash it with shampoo (do it at night) The oils from mayo will hydrate the hair. When you wash hair the next day use a small amount of shampoo. You shouldnt shampoo your hair everyday anyways...A good soak and scrub then condition is all u need. I shampoo hair every 2 days and it does wonders.
Use pantene or fructis conditioner its good stuff and use baby shampoo on your hair its gentle

DO NOT USE ANY PANTENE products They only coat your hair with a wax build-up! I would suggest using ALTERNA Hidrating shampoo and conditioners They work from inside the folicle at the root making the new growth soft and supple! It works great!

I preferably use Creme Of Nature Ultra Moisturizing Formula (green and white bottle, sells for around 3.00 but u dont need to use much cause it works like its concentrated) for African Americans because their hair is more coarse, so it makes my fine, thin hair alot more managable. I wash my hair with this shampoo first, then comb thru it then wash it again with Suave Professionals Humectant Shampoo (around 2-3 dollars as well). Then I follow it off with the matching Conditioner from Suave. My hair is so much healthier and more easier to brush and comb thru. Plus, I don't spend alot on the shampoo's and conditioner and they last quite a long time!! Also, trim your ends every couple of weeks so your hair doesn't dry out even more.

i use the john frieda line for moisturizing my hair
and it makes my hair feel so soft and silky.
like everyday i wake up and i dont have to do anything to it
it just automatically looks nice
and the shampoo and conditioner put the shine back in my hair.
i would reccomment trying that line out
or just go back to the salon and get a deep conditioning treatment
it feels so good
and it makes your hair feel amazing.
i suggest getting the deep conditioning treatment myself
because you know that it will work
or your money back.

pantene has a deep hydrating conditioner that comes in a jar it works very well for me and I color my hair very often you need to use it once a day for the first week then after that just twice a week you can also put loreal frizz ease on your hair after washing when it is still damp and it will help to restore moisture and shine

Get you a deep conditioning treatment, and you might get a leave in hair masque and put it in before you go to bed and wrap your head in a bag and try that. And go back to the salon and get them to recommend a repair for it. Personally, I love Pantene products, and they have a really awesome line for severely damaged hair, too. (I had a stylist supposedly highlight my hair and she left bleach on my hair for over an hour and it fried it. I have to get it cut to 2 inches all over my head and the lady who fixed it sold me on Pantene)
