Shoyu ramen with katsu, not too much shinachiku root, and just a few slices of narutomaki. And I'd take the pork and move it to the side of the bowl, saying, See you soon.

Or maybe red surf clam sushi, or unagi.

My son would say tobiko sushi. We were in a part of town recently where there's a Tillamook Creamery ice cream shop on one street and a good sushi bar on the other, and he wanted to go to the sushi bar. He can eat three orders of tobiko without hardly pausing for breath.

Itadakimasu!

What fun! Went globe-trotting half way 'round the world on the web to find some recipes and sites. Thanks for making me hungry!

My favorite is also Tempura Tendon

Seafood or vegetables dipped in batter and deep-fried, tempura is served with a dipping sauce and daikon. The word 'tempura' comes from the Portuguese 'tempero' (gravy or sauce) and this dish dates from the mid-16th century, when Portuguese and Spanish culture was first introduced to Japan. Tempura can be served with a side bowl of rice and soup or on a bowl of rice (tendon) or noodles (tempura udon, tempura soba).

Ingredients:

* Tempura batter mix*
* Tempura dipping sauce*
* Prawn: raw and large
* Seafood: almost everything is possible
* Vegetables (carrot, sweet potatoes, eggplant & more)
* Mushrooms

Preparation: Prawn (Shrimp) Remove the head and the shell. Make little cuts on the inside of the curved prawn since they look nicer if their posture is straight.
1. Cut the vegetables in about 1cm thick pieces.
2. You can use whole mushrooms.
3. Mixtures: Cut various ingredients in small pieces and mix them together, eg. green onion, prawn and carots.
4. Mix Tempura flour with the amount of water described on the package. Do not mix it completely, but leave some small lumps in it.
5. Cover all the ingredients completely with the batter.
Mix also the mixtures made of the small cut ingredients with batter, and try to deep fry it together. Don't let them fall apart in all the pieces.
6. Deep fry at 180 degrees celsius. Be careful, and do not use wet ingredients because the water would react strongly with the hot oil, which may harm your skin or eyes.
7. When the Tempura pieces are beautifully golden, take them out, and try to remove as much oil as possible.

Tendon (Tempura Donburi): Put the pieces in Tempura dipping sauce, remove them, and put them on top of cooked rice in a bowl. (One bowl per person)

You'll have to find your own recipe for the dipping sauce!

Gochi so sa ma. (Thank you for the meal!)

What is cool about Japanese food is that individual ingredients are prized for their individual quality......like Jasmine rice...one of the most pure food substances of all....without salt it has a wonderful floral scent and a distinct flavor.....historically whole economies have been based upon it.....

Never trusted Japanese food and never will
They eat dogs & cats,
like you eat cows & pigs
and who would trust
them to not serve it to YOU?
