My boyfriend and I have been together since August; all but the first three days of that has been long distance. We knew that the chances of it lasting weren't great, but we wanted to give it a try.

Lately, it's been difficult for us to connect for a number of reasons, which I won't get into. We both have unlimited long distance and use the same cell phone carrier (for unlimited moblie-to-mobile calls), as well as instant messenger service. Talking, in and of itself, isn't the problem as we speak daily.

We're looking for things we can do "together" while we're apart. All we've been able to come up with so far is watching the same movie at the same time and online gaming together. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Please don't give me "break it off, long distance relationships don't work" type responses, because that's not very helpful to us :) Really, we know that's an option.

Thanks!

I've been long distance with my girlfriend of four years for the last two years. Nothing in my entire life has ever been more difficult than keeping our relationship together. It's like holding your breath for weeks and months at a time until you can see the other person again... it's like only being half a person, but I digress...

We have had alot of fun playing World of Warcraft together, you said you play online together, and an MMO is highly social and interactive, so you might give it a try.

Also, we'll try to watch the same TV program together and talk about it afterwards. Just like watching a movie "together", it can be nice, but it's never the real thing.

However, really and truly, you need to accept that you are now living different lives. You need to find enjoyment in your daily life and realize that he is not going to be able to share in that. If your relationship is strong enough, this will be better for you in the long run. Try to set aside a little bit of close, "together" time each day, but try to live a normal life otherwise.

If your lines of communication are open, and if you can maintain a strong, honest relationship, you may just make it.

Good luck!

People don't really read carefully do they? But the answer to this queston is very difficult. Maybe you both could try to visit each other. One weekend he and the next you could. I really can't think of something that can be a better solution.
Otherwise, meet midway on a weekend and spend a whole day in a completely new town and explore it together. :)

My Bf and I have been together a year and we live long distance. We read the same books, watch the same movies while we are on the phone. listen to music and sing together..It helps us stay connected.

I hope it works out for you, Good Luck!

HMMMMMMMMMM,do you both own webcams???At least then you could see each other a bit more often.I know, not as good as the real thing, but it is something.I think you can make it work,it will be hard, but if you both care for one another deeply, the distance should not matter!Good luck!
