If you change your looks to "snag" a man, you'll get a man who will eventually leave you when your looks finally fade.

45 is not too old to go to school. You're never too old to learn.
I went back to school at 44 to become a computer tech. At 56 I am now training to be a pharmacy tech.
Go to school, nothing builds your self esteem like knowledge.
Forget about surgery to change your appearance, just look after what you have.
As for who would hire a woman pushing 50. All the places that you would like to work. If they wouldn't hire an older woman, you don't want to work there. You want to be hired for your skill, not your age or your beauty.
All good employers prefer older women because they are usually more responsible, more reliable and harder working.
I'm not saying forget a relationship but take your time in that area and when you find someone it will be because he attracts you not out of necessity.
Good Luck, Live for you.
PS: I've never lacked for work. I am overweight and would like to lose the weight but I am a hard worker and a happy person. I usually have a full time and a part time job and I am trying not to get coaxed into having two jobs at a time any more.

I'm 45 myself and still going to school because I've always had a thirst for knowledge. I also happen to be single (hint, hint) but I've always been independent. As long as you study something that's in demand or will be, you'll be alright. If you plan to snag a man with money, well, make sure you love him. On the other hand, it's never too late for school as long as you're willing and you're healthy enough. Or you can snag a man and still go to school and have the best of both worlds.

It's shallow and selfish to go after a man just because he has money. I am happily divorced, kept the house, my money, my cars, and my son. All because my ex-wife refused to learn how to be a responsible life partner and a mother. To her, spending money and having me taking care of her without any thing in return, (like a little cooking and cleaning now and then, or at least take care of the baby long enough for me to shower after work) was more important. This is why I choose to stay devorced. I don't want to ever be a womans sugar daddy/buttler again. It is never to late to go back to school. My grandmother (67 years old) is finishing up her masters, and is already been offer a marketing job. good luck to you.

With that thinking, no one. Just like no man would want you either. Go to school, enjoy yourself, try new things, the confidence you get will cause employers to hire you as well as men to want you. They will be the job and man you really want, not some guy only interested in your looks.

I've always think it's never late to study.
The father of one of my friends was a very important dentist. He studied to be a dentist because that was his father's dream. But he wanted to be a psycologist. So, he decided he should go back to school at the age of 55. He graduated on his 60's. He's very happy now!

i 'm mid forties and taking classes. don't depend on a man...the personal satisfaction you will get from learning is something you will always have. it won't fart, belch or fall asleep in front of the tv. will not require food or complain about aches and pains. while your job options are getting more and more limited, there are many places to find a job. as a suggestion, can you start your own business?

If being with a man makes you happy than yes, if going back to school makes you happy then yes, or even both.

The question is who you need to be. Not want to be; need to be. Move in that direction as skillfully as you can. Your personal energy will become more coherent. You will then have the magnetism you need to attract the kind of person will deeply need you and be willing to learn how to care for you.
