Neither. The Bible does not mention MONEY. period.

If you put a $$ amount on this, you made your first mistake to begin with.

God needs your money? hello. God created money.

WHAT is it he wants 1 tenth of?

It is usually on the net. The idea is the gain. If you buy something for $1,000 and sell it for $1,500 then you tithe on the 500, or 50 dollars.. If you lose money then no tithe..
For instance a car dealership could have a huge gross income, but after taxes and other costs the net would be way smaller..

In response to Mr. Misters statement that the Bible does not talk about Money. My question to him is "have you ever read the Bible?" Because if you did, you would know that it does talk about Money and it talks about it a lot.

In response to the question at hand. I tithe out of net because this is what I'm getting paid. I wish I could see all my gross income. Taxes are too high here in California!!!

Your net income IS your ''take-home'' pay. Gross is what you have before taxes, insurance, etc. I don't have an answer to the original question, but maybe this will help some of you who seem to have it mixed up.

Like a friend told me do you want a Gross blessing or a net blessing. A Gross Blessing is a full blessing because of your faithfulness. A net Blessing is a partial blessing because of your selfishness.

Do you want God to bless you on your gross income or on your net?

My religion doesn't tithe because, well, tithing is not required and is only used by money hungry churches. The Bible states to "give, each one, what he feels in his heart"

From the gross income! It is more bless to give than to receive!
