I have read EVERY book that my mom read when she was my age. I really enjoy books about kids (girls) my age I guess cause I can relate to them the most. What would you suggest for me to read.
P.S I have always read 1, 2,or 3 grades above average reading level so don't be afraid to reccomend teen or young adult books because I do read them.

Mystery! the Mrs. Polifax (Old lady who travels abroad as an undercover CIA agent) series is great. One of my favorites when I was younger, if you like animals try Rita Mae Brown (she's a postmistress who has two cats and corgi the animals all talk but the people don't know, great fun suspense.) or Lilian Jackson Braun. Evaunavitch is good as well. I don't know a lot of children's authors my children and I were never really into those kind of books. The authors I have mentioned seem childish I guess you would say but most of the readers are adults ,they really are good I'm older then dirt according to my 20 year old son and I like them. Most can be found in the library in the paper backs, Have a great summer.

It does depend on what you like... can you go to the library and just spend some time browsing, then check out a stack of books?
"Mockingbird" is definitely a good choice. Try Eragon and its sequel, Eldest, you might enjoy those as well.
I'm glad you're a reader... so many kids are stuck to the TV all the time that they have no imagination. Books that you love will become life-long friends. No matter how many times you read them, you will always discover something that you didn't see the other times you read it.
Happy reading!

My favorite book with a girl hero is called....
The Lark and the Wren
By Mercedes Lackey
It is kinda a midieval themed book about a girl who runs away from home and becomes a bard (musician/story teller)...
It is a really good book.
Other than that... books like:
Pandora
and
Vittorio the Vampire
Both by Anne Rice are very good...
Also... Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austin...
If you were in highschool I would suggest The Descent by Jeff Long... but it is a bit graphic for your age group.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants books are really good. So are the Mates and Dates Series by Cathy Hopkins. You might also want to read All American Girl by Meg Cabot. They are all young adult books but geared to younger teens.

The Secret Garden is good. Try your local library, sometimes they have lists of new or newly awarded books that are sometimes great to read. If you go to Scholastic.com they have a summer reading program that might have suggested books to read. Also Random House (www.randomhouse.com) has a huge list of books for all age levels, you can search their database for particular books and grade levels. Have fun.

All of the Harry Potter books! I started reading them when I was 12 and they are really great. I have now read all of them. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber Of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet Of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.....That is all of them in order. If you enjoy reading, then try getting into them. They are really great books, and they will improve your reading too. All the Steven King books are also great. Hope I helped, thanks... *Ashley*

I am a fantasy buff, so I enjoy (still) robin mckinley's work, such as spindles end and the blue sword (there is a prequel to the blue sword, but i lost the book and cannot remember the name)
also, douglas adams hitchhikers guide to the galaxy is funny and ironic, as is Dirk Gentlys Holistic Detective Agency.

The Silmarillion, The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings 1,2,3 in that order. Then follow it up with Unfinished Tales of Numenor and Middle-Earth to fill-in the gaps. You'd be talking Tolkinese in no time
