Why do Americans (as a people, not as a government and army) appear so very stupid to other nationalities?

We are the most diverse country in the World and We are busy creating our own nationality and don't really care what you think of US.

We are the laughing stock of the world because we always help out and give billions of dollars to other countries every year. I don't think this is helping Americans or the people who receive aid. You don't need help from US stupid idiots. I'm sure you can figure things out on your own.

I think part of it is b/c of what people want to watch. Ratings drives what goes on the air (or in print) and what does not. On your everyday news, its always the guy with no shirt and a can of beer answering the question, never the intellect.

But we also are isolated in our newscasts and news papers too. If you watch/read, very little is described on foreign issues unless an american interest is involved, whereas the rest of the world is more informed.

Also, America doesn't rate too highly in the math and science. Our educational systems need an overhaul if America is to continue to remain competitive with the rest of the world.

we appear stupid because for the most part americans are unlearned, and what most have learned is a farce. america thrives on a unrealistic fantasy that started at its very inception. america will always be a retrogressive nation until it owns up to it own deceit and is purged, from the top to the bottom. beginning with columbus and that ill fated ordeal is a good start. research research... with an open heart and mind and u will be surprised and understand that our ignorance is as a result of us asking no questions about what we believe in or what we think is true

Really? You must not have met the doctors, lawyers, PhDs, the contractors and engineers that build things and make things run, caring teachers and counselors and more. It is a wonder, especially since we, as a people, have the highest amount of patents worldwide, the largest companies and some of the most technologically advanced entities on Earth (NASA, JPL, IBM, Microsoft and the list goes on). Perhaps the world only knows what they want to know about the American people.

Lol, couldn't agree w/ you more!!! I'm american, and I'm pretty ashamed. lol. Probably because we have all the crazy people here, so we get all the bad publicity. Or maybe even because we're so big in the world, so people focus more on us.

The list is too long to give precise details but i think it is mainly because we allow our government to do stupid things and we are so wrapped up in our personal lives that we dont even bother to vote........true story..........
In the 2004 presidential elections the number of people who actually voted is not as large as the number of illegal immigrants that are here now..................

From an American who travels a lot. Your absolutely correct, they are ignorant to anything outside the borders of the contiguous United States. anything outside there own state or city is just passed aside, no one seams to care.
