They can be, but you have to do your homework. First, DON'T buy an inexpensive Chihuahua. Because they were very popular a few years back, they were notoriously overbred by unscrupulous breeders out to make a buck. That led to a huge glut of very nervous, shaky Chihuahuas. Buy from a reputable, preferably a show, breeder (show breeders sell 'pet quality' puppies at a lower price-they have the same breeding as show dogs, but have small physical flaws that would prevent them from being a champion). Their puppies will be more expensive, but they will also be calmer, sound and less prone to genetic diseases or defects.
Chihuahuas do not do well in homes with small children; they are very bold for such tiny things, and are VERY delicate, and small children who don't know any better can hurt them pretty easily.
Otherwise, they are great companions. A well bred Chihuahua is not a heel biter or nervous.

No. A chihuahua believe it or not is the most aggressive dog.....even more so than pits, rots, and bulldogs.....a chihuahua will back down from nothing and is the least trainable dog there is....check out the National Geographic documentaries on this

I have a chihuahua and I love her soooo much....she is so sweet(to me and my family). the problem is that she bites anybody that comes to my house and she definetly has an anger problem. she is very protective, but i have a had a few chihuahuas who were not. just depends on the dog, but I love my chihuahua more than a lot of my relatives. Also, she is very very smart.

Depends on what kind of a dog works for you. They are great for some people and terrible for others. And they DO Not BARK ALL THE TIME. I know some that have never barked when I see them.

I have a friend who has chihuahuas and one is a sweety, but the mother is a holy terror. She will rip your hand off if you even try to pet her. They do tend to have an attitude, and bark a lot

If you have children, the answer is no. They are very aggressive. Chihuahuas always bark and can get very mean.

Not unless you like to hear high pitched yapyapyapyaping every time there is a noise outside or you get a visitor, or like tripping over the little guy when you have to get up to take a pee, or emasculation by its size alone.

yes they are very good dogs. they do bark because they don't want anyone to bother their owner. they are possesive and jealous pets. they love to lay outside in the sun and when they're in the house they love to lay under a blanket (when you can get them to come back inside) and sleep in the bed with you. they are wonderful pets in my opinion.
