It is hard to brush and people go up to me and ask me even if I tried brushing it.

My daughter is the same.. First get the book... Curly girl..The Handbook by Lorraine Massey and then get an expensive hair straightener gadget..(its worth it) and do what they both tell you.. in 12 years my daughters hair "naturally" weaved into dread locks and now she straigtens it like a pin.. and it is much longer than even I thought!

First, to get it initally un-knotted, gently work olive oil through your hair. Olive oil is really good for hair & skin, and it won't turn rancid. Take the time to un-tangle all your hair. Maybe a friend could help, especially with the hair in the back of your head. Then put it in a ponytail, & go straight to a beauty salon & ask the professionals there what your hair needs. Maybe it needs more conditioners, or maybe it's dry & damaged from chemicals or sun & wind. Hair can be such a pleasure to comb & arrange & just "play with" ; give it the time it needs, you'll be glad you did. I had really curly hair when I was a teenager, now it's mostly straightened out by itself but I still enjoy it.

First you can to the salon and have them straighten it, basicly what they do is the same as a perm only they don't put the curls in it. Then go and buy you a CHI straightening iron a little high about $150.00 but is worth every penny. Use that to get the rest of your curls out. Good Luck

u can straighten ur hair everyday , and u can try using the Tresemme' detangling leave-in conditioner. u wash your hair and while ur hair is still wet spray in the Tresemme. after that i would suggest that u blow-dry ur hair, straighten it, blow-dry it again and maybe flip out the ends. u can put in some hair spray too. if u like the look straighten ur hair in the mornings, flip it out, and spray in hair spray. of course this depends on how thick ur hair is, but it should work. i hope it helps.

brush it before you wash it, Try Loreal VIVE for shampoo & conditioner and to style it, try Curl Construct mousse by GARNIER- FRUCTIS STYLE. It dosen't dry it like others do.
Or if you can find these products are unbelievable: Curly Hair cream and SUPER conditioner by CLINIQUE but I think they don't make the shampoos anymore, maybe you'll get lucky and find them.

You may want to consider either braiding it all the time or using a straightening iron.
