the cop even came back to my house and went in my mailbox,so we threatened to take him too court and he then dropped the charges against us.

You should explain that there are good and bad in ALL occupations, even the church. Also you must instruct her to be very cautious when dealing with the cops because many have an agenda other than protecting the public: some are interested in getting promoted, getting news media attention, and protecting their buddies in blue. It is good that she doesn't trust any of them completely.

Shady cops, can you trust them?
The informal meaning of shady is dubious(doubtful). That kind'a says it all.
As to the second part, that's a whole different thing.
Obviously police aren't hired to be nice guy's, actually it's hard to tell what the present criteria is.Their in the news everywhere and very little of the news is good.
It sounds to me like your upset by the fact that your daughters illusions of the police might be damaged.
Unfortunately, a seasoned adult, so are mine.

It's sad that your daughter doesn't' believe that all police officer are the same. Not all of them are shady, no matter what you or some of the others may think. It's sad that your daughter had to see you and your husband arrested. Not all Police officers would have done what they did. I'm sorry for what happened to you, your husband and daughter, but believe me, not all officers are like that..

Well I know what you mean. Several bad cops will tarnish the entire group. Not all cops are bad, just as all people in this world, you have to look for the good in order to see it.

Your account is sketchy at best and does not explain the specific charges. If the arrest was truly unwarranted, you need to file a complaint with the department.

Your daughter is too young to understand the distinctions. All she knows is she was scared because her parents were ripped out of her home and she was deserted. It will take years for that trauma to fade enough for her to be able to understand situation rationally. All you can do is be there for her, let her know you'll always come back and get on with your life. Years from now, you'll be able to discuss it with her and allow her to make her own decisions.

It's wrong the way they treated you, but cops are suppose to protect you. Sometimes they would rather catch a "bad person" rather then lean on good morals.
God bless!!

If you teach your daughter that police are bad, who will she go to when she needs help. There are bad apples in every profession, I personally have not met a bad policeman. I have many policemen, SBI, FBI, even CIA agents that I am friends with & they are all great guys.

As far back as there has been government control of any group of people, it has ALWAYS been very handy to have friends "down at the station house".
