Yes they can by smell and also I think they know just like we know. Female dogs tend to like males better and male dogs tend to like females better. Although this isn't always the case from having spent my life around dogs I will call it a good generalization. And dogs are almost always gentler around children as though they can sense that these small beings need their protection. Dogs are amazing!!

I don't think they make the distinction like we do. I think they know the difference between soft and deep voices and a person who cuddles and a person who plays more rough. I think some dogs think of babies as something to attack or play with. It probably depends on the dog.

Yes - dogs have an amazing sense of smell, and guys and gals smell different. I believe they know babies, too, because my dogs are quite hyper with older kids but very gentle with the young ones. I think they recognize that these are "puppies" and need to be treated with extra care. My dogs also recognize people who are disabled, both mentally and physically, and treat them with that same level of extra care.

I'm sure they can. Otherwise socialization would be unnecessary. Dogs can have irrational fears of, lets say for example, grey haired men. Grey haired women will not scare them though. And dogs are very gentle with children, well most are anyways. So yes. I believe they can.

Yes. Those are the animals with eye's, correct? And they have a mouth with teeth? And they run on four legs, usually? Right? I think that's what the elders said...

i think so, my jack russell is very finicky, typically doesnt go for men. boy's are okay. she can go from roughhousing with my german short hair and stops immediatly to give our 16 month old toddler a kiss and leads the gsp away from her. and the gsp lays down next to her no matter what like he's getting down to her level so she's safer.
