The bible is the inerrant word of God. God inspired the men who wrote the bible. The bible is true. The bible is the true word of God because the Bible says it is the true and only inspired word of God.

Am I missing something? If the bible was so important then why all the confusion and misquoting of Jesus? Why all of the questions? Is god a Prankster God?

The circular logic argument would only work if the Bible had only one author, although if you believe what it says, the Holy Spirit is the author who moved men to write down what God wanted to reveal.

There are two passages, written by two different authors that claim that the Bible is God breathed or inspired by the Holy Spirit, so unless you want to charge them with collusion....

Written by Paul:

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Written by Peter.

2 Peter 1:20-21 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

it was written by man.

look at it this way... originally it was written in ancient Hebrew, a language that does not use punctuation.. soasentencewouldlookverymuchlikethis ... and with no periods, commas etc, its hard to decifer where a sentence ends and even starts... now you try to translate something like that, from an obsolete language into something coherant, with meanings of words changing over time etc. At best, the bible is a loose translation, and although its intentions are good, should be taken as a guide only. God gave you the power to think on your own and not have to rely on a book to start with.

to The truest form is the original 1611 King James version.

I don't even think the person who said that has any of gray cells. Next thing she will claim that bible was always written in English.
Just the idea that was translate in 4 different languages before it even was in English makes ppl wander how the tuest it can be.
Ppl confusing faith and logic. All Cristians answers are based on faith not logic so there is no circular logic. Its circular Faith.
Where logic fails we need to use stupidity and faith comes to guide us.
Therefore GOD exists.

If prophesies came true, was that because God made them come true, or because God foresaw what would happen?

IF: the Bible was the true and inspired Word of God
Then: it will be the T&I WoG, regardless of whether it claims it is or not!

There are other reasons for believing that, besides the claims to that effect.

Good question.

All circles start somewhere. In regards to the Bible, the circle starts with God.

This is the cornerstone of faith. You have to believe in God first, then you can choose to believe in the Bible as the inerrant word of God, because you know God and can trust him to make sure that His word is without error. You can talk to Him and get answers about the Bible.

If you start with the Bible as proof of God, then you don't really have faith in God, you have faith in the Book. As soon as you find a "contradiction" in the Bible you have no where to go. But if you start off with God and find the "contradiction" then you can go to God and say, "Hey! What's this?"

He God for goodness sake. If Simon & Schuster can make sure that a book is printed without error, certianly God can.

Some things are beyond words. The true singular way to communicate in great depth would be to make examples or associate ideas to the listener. The sayings were never meant to be taken literally just to show the path. The upside to the literature is that we never feel that we completely understand so we keep trying to. There is no such thing as perfection but it doesn't mean we shouldn't keep trying-I mean that in a spiritual sense not the material.

I don't think the Bible uses any logic at all. It would be circular logic if the Bible was 100% truth but it's not, so it's lying when it says it's the truth.

It's like someone saying "Everything I say is a lie" and then telling you that that's the truth.

I suppose you could still call it circular logic but it makes more sense to call it a lie/fiction.

Yes. The bible uses circular logic and Christians are notorious for using circular logic. You are a wise. Good for you.

Oh... regarding the previous poster who says it's like someone saying "Everything I say is a lie" and then telling you that that's the truth."

I'd be lying if I said there was not some truth in that, but I wouldn't be telling a lie either if I truthfully said it was false. I just wanted to point that out, ok.

Absolutely not. God is a loving and just Father. God inspired means God "breathed." Check your translation. The truest form is the original 1611 King James version.

Well, take Jesus out of there. It makes better sense then.
The Torah includes episodes where certain people actually speak with God. Abraham cooked dinner for him. And argued with him right before the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.
But that's okay, maybe you don't like the rule, "Don't pray to statues." So go pray to one because you can see it.
And maybe you don't like the rule, "Honor your parents." When your children won't listen and you can be happy.
Or how about, No murdering.
No cheating.
No jealousy or keeping up with the joneses.
Sigh.
