I am sorry that you are going thur a bad time. And I know there are some places that will help you. However you waited until the last minute to try and find help and these people usually take longer than a few days to help someone. But don't be discouraged. Still go and try and find help. Maybe you could pawn some things to pay the bill. Water bill are usually not that expensive. Or ask a friend or neighbor for help. Keep your head up! Good luck to you and your children.
PS. And for the people who are leaving nasty replies. Stop it! You don't know this woman's situation. She may have been married and her husband died and she is left to take care of their children all by herself. Or she could have been laid off or fired! Or even if she did have four children with no job or husband she didn't give her children away. She is still trying to take care of them. Never be so quick to judge. You never know what the Lord has in store for you.

I have been having a similar problem with EBMUD. Over the past year my billing has been up one cycle and down another, (cycles being a 2 month period). They show me using 140gallons a day in one cycle and 850 gallons a day in another cycle. When it first happened I called EBMUD and they sent someone out but they basically did nothing but tell me the same things, I had a leak or was watering the lawn too much. I have checked for leaks and rechecked the irrigation system, (I actually reduced the times of the watering cycles) and my meter also stops when no water is being used? So it happened again this cycle (they now say I am using 900 gallons a month). Since I am at their mercy when it comes to billing, I am now going to install my own water meter at the house to monitor the usage. My true usage is always the same, I take a shower the same every day, I wash clothes the same every week, my irrigation system is on timers and stays the same, I don't have a pool and don't wash my car in the driveway. It is almost inconceivable that I can use 900 gallons of water a day, over 2 months that’s a staggering 42,000 gallons I am being charged for!! I'll keep you posted and please keep us updated on your progress.

Call your city's village office. The number should be in the front pages of your telephone listings. They should have an emergency fund or grant program that can help you out.
I have to add, that the above answer is very rude. Many people go through rough times, and need help every once in awhile. That is why they have these grant programs. I also, have four children, and when my husband was arrested and sent to prison over three years ago, I had to turn to public assistance to help me out. Take no shame in asking for help, we all need help from time to time. Good luck, hon I hope that everything works out for you and your children.

You really shouldn't have let it get this bad. Did you just think the bill would go away? Where are the kid's dad(s)? But anyway, call your local welfare office and ask if there are any church groups in the area who can help in an emergency. Also, try the Salvation Army. And don't have any more kids if you can't afford to supply the ones you have with their basic needs.

I don't mean to be crude but Why? Why do you have 4 kids all still small if you are having money problems? Sure get the government to help so people like me who pay their own bills can pay yours. Do you work?
