How long does your hair have to be to put it in a pony tail??

I agree with an earlier comment, depends on how big your head is. Also depends on where on your head you put the ponytail, high or low. Try it once a week and you'll figure it out. Mine is past my shoulders but still have to use barrettes on the underside so the short hairs don't fall out.

Low pony tail, high, or half? It is fine if a few strands fall away from the holder, if the mussy unfussy look works for you. If the bottom length is still at your collar yet the top layers will reach the crown of your head you can use the half tail approach. But if it's a smooth, slick, not a hair out of site, back of the head pony you're aiming for, all of the perimeter hair (what is growing at the outer most hairlines) should ideally be past your collar bone. Remember, what is in front and at the neck line has to travel the farthest to reach your "tailer" and still contribute to the fullness of the tail. Just don't pull and stretch too much! You DON'T want to stress those baby fine hairs that break so easily!!

Now with regard to pony tail, first we have to see what is the length of your hair. If it is neck length, always go for a hair clip i.e. take all hair strands and clip it. If it is shoulder length you can tail it with rubber bands. If your length is waist length, you can even take both side strands of hair, make out a small plait and let lose the remaining hair. hair should @ least be long enough to give a great funky looking ponytail. Short stubby looks,or when it looks like it's in a bun just doesn't look good. You have to at least have some length (3-4 inch min.) for your hair to look awesome.
