I do not believe that. I watch Sesame Street with my children and I find no hint of that. Yes they do live together but so do most people in college live with the same sex. That does not mean they are gay. Even as a kid I watched it and I never thought about it or even gave it a second thought. Kids don't think like that anyway. Bert is alive (in puppet form anyway) and still active on Sesame Street and I have not heard them metion AIDS. Homosexuality should not be a concern for a kid in that age group nor do they realize about 2 adults living together. It is when they get older they can start putting the pieces together.

That's ridiculous! Even if that is what the creators had in mind when they made Bert and Ernie, that concept is just waaaay beyond a preschoolers comprehension. The two puppets could be making openly homosexual remarks, and the kids would still love them just because they are Bert and Ernie. And the remarks would fly right over their heads! That's why little guys love to watch movies and shows over and over and OVER again--because they miss most of what is going on anyway, even when there is no homosexual undertone. I would say, don't even worry about it!

Good grief!!! Its a childrens educational show. People take things too seriously anymore. Dont ruin a childs show. Bert and Ernie are muppets, they cant die, get sick , get aids. I know lots of guys who live together and they arent gay. Young and old men.

I just asked the guy next to me who worked on Sesame Street, he said......
Unlike Noddy and Bigears, No, Bert and Ernie are not gay.
He went on to say....
Homosexuality isn't such a big deal to children only for the generation of parents who aren't comfortable with it.

So what if they are? Children need to be exposed to all kinds of people. After all, different kinds of people exist in the world. I don't think that homosexuality itself is an appropriate topic for young children, unless it is occurring in their environment. Even then, it doesn't have to be in depth.

But I can't believe people would actually come up with ideas like that. Of course, I've heard Spongebob is gay too. Why can't people just get over it.

Ok, Bert and Ernie are fictional characters and are puppets!! Come back to reality! Unless you're talking about the people who play the puppets, uh....don't know.

My take? I don't think that kids that young ARE concerned about homosexuality. It's only the adults who seem to look in every crack possible to find dirt where there is none. Look what happened with the song "Puff the Magic Dragon". There are ALWAYS going to be those who are seeking to bring down or cause people to question things that are innocent.

Everyone who thinks that they are gay are just plain stupid. When I was young, I just thought that they were brothers and their parents weren't in the show. I mean REALLY people. And if they are gay, who cares. It is nobody's business anyway because it's not a sex show and ther is nothing wrong with being gay. Grow up and deal with it.
