my brother says that lithium isnt a drug for bipolar and mania and anxiety. i also take effexor and xanax

Lithium is what's called a mood stabilizer. It is often used for Bipolar Disorder to control the swings from mania to depression.

Effexor is an antidepressant.

Xanax is an antianxiety medication.

lithium is an older drug used as a mood stabilizer

there are many new drugs for bipolar disease, mania is just a part of bipolar manic state.

i would suggest seeing a psychiatrist, or if you currently are ask him about new drugs that may also help

one is GEODONE as a mood stabilizer

lithium requires periodic blood testing to maintain a therapeutic level

Here's something to show your brother... he doesn't know what he's talking about... Lithium is one of the most popular treatments for bi polar disorder

Did the same doc perscribe all of those drugs to you??? because the 3rd site... recommends not taking Lithium with Effexor

Sometimes doctors don't communicate well and people end up on conflicting meds... please becareful!

is your brother a Medical Doctor or a Pharmacist? Maybe he's a Psychiatrist or Psychologist?
