I think that every service has a specific purpose. The Marines are definitely better than any other service when it comes to their role in the DOD. Marines are a modular forces, they can secure coastlines and a few miles inland, however they are limited when it comes to a long stay. The Army is huge and has a large logistical tail, the Army can sustain itself for long periods of time.

Navy and Air Force are movers and lifeline support. Without them the Marines and Army cannot function.

If any one branch was better than the rest then there wouldn't be a need for the rest...just more of the best right? Marines call the Marine Corps the finest fighting organization in the world. That isn't to lord it over anyone else. That is a tradition to live up to. That is a way of looking at those who have gone before and how you should look at your fellow marines. It has nothing to do with "looking down" on anyone else as being less. Every single branch of the armed forces has value. Marines are fortunate to be among a few who share an esprit de corp, a brotherhood. There are others.

the military is a machine. The Marine corps is an important part of the machine, but so are all the other branches. Military branches are also broke down into sub-groups. For example, Army - Delta force - special ops - rangers - sappers. Marine corps - force recon. ect. ect. ect. All units play there roles. In todays modern military, you even have specialized teams of mixed units. For example: A bridge has to be blown up from below. The terrain is to dense to paint the bridge for a bomb drop, and the enemy is deffending it from both side. So we send in the Marines (decoys) to attack from the ground on one side, and lay down heavy fire. Then while the enemy isn't paying attention, the army sappers have floated up river under the bridge and planted c-4 then gets the hell out of there. The Marines then fall back. When the GO signal is given, the sappers blow the bridge by remote or time delay. Then the air force does all the paper work. (just kidding) In the modern military, all branches work together.

Air Force - I have spent very little time aroud them so I cold really tell you but I can tell you that everyone else, at one time or another, wishes that they have life as cushy as the Air Force.

Army - They have a lot of officer. They are just big and kind of weird, its difficult to explain. It is kind of like living in the big city; the big city has a lot of advantages but they have a lot of problems to go with them.

Navy - That is a tough life and God bless them for it. They spend entirely too much time out on ships and never really try to foster leadership in their sailors until they become officers or Chiefs.

Coast Guard - Don't forget about them, they play an extremely active role in out nations defense, not only hear but abroad as well. They are the running joke that most people take them for.

Marines - Yes I am bias. We are larger than the Coast Guard but smaller in numbers than all of the others. We focus on quality leadership from the first day of boot camp until well beyond your retirment ceremony. We pride ourselves on maintaining a high moral stanard and that is why we are so enraged when our young men and women forget their training as we have seen in the last few weeks. While the actions of a few is deployable, they do not represent the vast majority that maintain the high standards of ethical conduct that has become the halmark fo the Marine Corps.

Like previous posting, all of the services serve a purpose. You just have to find where you stand in life and then find wich service represents the person that you want to be.

I don't think they're better all military men are equal they're braver than us but they're not gay either like everyone says my Grandfater was a Marine in WWII and he's not gay.
