"Passing gas" was the term I heard when I was growing up and it was considered vulgar. If someone passed gas in public, they were really embarrassed and ashamed. That is a hell of a thing to be ashamed about, because the average person farts between 14 and 23 times per day ! Everyone went around feeling ASHAMED because of a normal body function, until the comedians of the 60s decided it could be humourous. It is a lot better as a joke than a shame issue. ..hmmmmmmmmm....

I do not think farting should be as funny as it is. But we have gotten so use to laughing when someone does it. Why should we, it's a natural bodly function. Do we still have that mentality that we had when we were children and someone farting or the sound of farting makes us laugh. So yea, go back to being a kid, live it agan. Because farting is just farting.

Farting like everything in life has a place and time. I mean you are not going to start playing fart games in the bank with a banker or to impress your crush but with your friends in a place you feel comfortable joking like that then yeah sure, who farts the loudest competition, let her rip. Everything in life even farts have a time and place for everything. Personally I don't find them fun but I don't judge others for having fun that way. :).

Who said it wasn't funny? I mean really. Some people have the cute little squeakers, and some people have the duck walk fart. (You all know someone who farts with every step they take and just can't help it!) It's hilarious to discover what kind of farter each person is.

Sometimes farting is not funny... like when someone farts in class and everyone always attributes it to the fat kid or the one nobody likes.... NOT FUNNY.
But, when lying in bed watching tv with the hubby... you let one rip under the covers and then fluff the covers up over his head to smother him in it...
THAT'S FUNNY!
... but there's always retribution.

If you find yourself at a classy event, then know, it wont be funny to fart.. If you're with your friends just chillin' and one of them happens to come out at the most inapropiate time, its gonna be funny as hell.

heck ya.....I went to school at RIT and they have a school for the deaf there.....my favorite Pastime was to go to there Dorm and ride the elevators after some pork -n- beans...i would fart really loud and they can't hear it ...but boy can they smell! i would turn so red in the face laughing.....they would scream at me but you can't make out what they are saying. lol ooh the good ole days!
