The first thing you need to do is use shampoos and conditioners designed for curly hair. Curly hair is naturally dry and these products contain gentle cleansers and light moisturizing conditioners.
Some styling aids you may want to try are mousse and curl creme. Use the mousse on wet hair and dry the hair about 75% of the way then rub a small amount of the curl creme into your hands and gently apply it to the hair. Dry the hair the rest of the way and reapply the curl creme to define those waves.
Also, NEVER brush or comb your hair when it is dry. It will make it look dry, frizzy and brittle.

I hate my curly hair too, but what I did was cut it to shoulder length (so that it doesn't get weighed down).
Products that I use:
Paul Mitchell gloss drops immediately out of the shower, then I comb my wet hair
then I put Super Sculpt and diffuse it dry.
But i gotta say, sometimes that works well, sometimes it doesn't. I hate my hair too! Good question! :)

I have long blonde curly hair and I used pantene curl defining mousse. after I have a shower and my hair is wet I comb it through them apply a few pumps of the moose to my hair and scrunch it, then I let it dry naturally. You can also twist it around your fingers to define the curls more.

i have curly hair too. there's good days and bad days. it helps me if i rinse my hair with cold water after washing it. you also should try garnier fructis styleXXL volume its a spray gel which is really helpful. you should also start helping your hair along with how you wash and condition it. most people with curly don't have enough moister in it so make sure you get a good conditioner. also after you wash your hair brush it and put your products in it then leave it don't try to brush it after its dry it will just get fluffy and not look good. i hoped i helped you a little. good luck

i USED to hate my curly hair soo much, but then i bought this PANTENE comb in mosturizing treatment and i also bought PANTENE mouse. when your hair is wet (strait out of the shower), take some of the mosturizer and kinda "scrunch your hair". that helps your hair become silkyer and prevents damage when blow drying it. then "scrunch" your hair with (not alot, but enough) mouse. that will keep your curly locks in place and if you have thick hair it will make it thinner.
yeah this is what i do every morning! =D

I also have curly hair. I do several different things with my curls. French braid or maybe use gel and let your curls hang in ringlets. With curls, come frizz! Use a diffuser for less frizz; use frizz free serum.
