yes it is. i am 21 now and started dying my hair when i was 15. once you start you can't stop! i like changing the color of my hair, but it also sucks because when the roots come in I HAVE TO get it redone and the chemicals of dye are just so bad for the hair! its a neverending cycle, because once you start coloring it you can't really stop. even if you dye it your natural color, it never seems to match perfectly, and besides- my mousey brown is just so dull. :( my hair is dry, brittle, and frizzy and i know the damage is partly from dying it and partly from using blow dryers and flat irons on a regular basis. i do deep conditioning treatments on a regular basis and try to use protective and vitamin rich products and that really helps, but it will never be as shiny and silky as someone with natural hair!

yes. My hair is damaged. I have been coloring my hair since I was 7 years old. I have colored itmore than 75 times since then.I will get tired of the color and change it. My hair looks fried and damaged from putting so much hair coloring in it. The part of it being fried looking may have something to do with using a straightner too much. Once or twice a year isn't going to hurt it. Good luck!

all hair is different, make sure that you leave the hair color in your hair for only the directed time. Dont do it all the time and make sure that you condition your hair often and i think you should be fine! I have colored my hair a million times and i really didnt have a problem except when i bleached it and left it in my hair for an hour.... that was just dumb on my part! Good luck, i hope it turns out right

ALL chemical processes damage the hair. This does not mean the hair is in poor condition. Imagine your hair is like shingles on a roof. When the hair is chemically processes the shingles lift up. This does not mean the roof is bad. The lifting of the shingles is also why colored hair seems thicker.

YES!!!! If you get a color that fades and needs to be dyed frequently and you intend on keeping the color for long periods of time your hair will eventually dry out, break, and become damaged. Trust me, right now I am trying to figure out how to correct my problem. I am typing to you, sitting infront of my computer, with mayonnaise in my hair. If you do decide to dye it get Matrix Biolage Color Care Shampoo and Ultra Moisturizing Conditioning Balm. It helps some.

No, my hair is not damaged, partly because I put low tones in my hair, and didnt color my whole head. But with colored hair you continue having to condition it and condition it. Over the years, it will damage your hair, it dry's it out and breaks your hair. Basicly your hair is dead grown skin cells. But to answer your question no my hair is not damaged now.

I've never colored my hair, but my best friend does and she thinks it had something to do with her hair going gray fairly early. While I don't know if there's any reality behind that, I'm 48 and am amazed my hair has no visible gray. Could just be luck of the draw.

Yeah, I stopped coloring it. But I also lived through the 80's, which means my hair went through some crazy stuff and was all colors of the rainbow. Except green.

I colored my hair once a year for a while. And now I don't color it at all. My hair has never been healthier than it is these days.

When a professional 'lifts' your hair to color it, they are actually conditioning it deep into it's shaft, and it shouldn't harm your hair. It does however change your hair's natural chemical consistency, so farther conditioning is required. Try some Bio Silk from Sally's, it's awesome.
