you should live your life doing the right thing. it's wrong to do hurtful things and then say 'oopps sorry' just before you die and think that will cover it.

Absolutely! And yes, the worst, most evil, wicked human being who ever lived can be completely forgiven, even on his death bed, if he sincerely repents and turns to God. Not only will he be in the same place as Mother Theresa, but she and all the other saved souls will rejoice to have him there and embrace him as the (literally) long-lost brother that he is. Never put limits on God's grace, nor try to be more just than He is.

Yes. God says in His Word, the Bible, that He is not willing that anyone should perish, but that all might come to eternal life. We as humans cannot understand that God would forgive a person at his last breath and then welcome him into His presence. But, that is where our minds stop and God's love begins. It seems to me that you are asking would God forgive a man on his death-bed just before he dies even though he has lived a life of sin all throughout his life. Well, are we any better? No. John 1 says, "If WE say that we have no sin we deceive ourselves and the love of the Father is not in us." So, we to must be confessing our sins all through our lives as well. The man on the death-bed, confessing his sins and desiring to repent and put his faith solely in the name of Jesus Christ is just as saved as a man who was saved for 70 years. This seems unfair, but in reality, God lives in the past the present and the future all at the same time, therefore for a man to confess on his death-bed in God's idea of time frame there is no difference to Him. What God desires is that men put their faith in His Son. He doesn't care when they do it just as long as they do it. Although, living a life for the Lord would be beneficial, the death-bed confession, if truly genuine, is still enough for the blood of Jesus Christ to cleanse from all righteousness. 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

our god is a merciful god and i believe he hears us every time we call out whether it is at a time in our everyday lives or on our deathbed. Jesus does not want any of us to suffer in hell. But the question is does the person really mean it are they truly repenting or are they doing it thinking that the lord will save there life here on earth. only that person knows there heart and if they recieve the lord on there deathbed i believe they will be made a new person with new spirit and those around them will see the change. but as the others stated i would not wait untill then because you never know life is too short here on earth.

If, and only if, someone does repent and ask God for forgiveness and salvation, on their deathbed, then yes, God will save them. However, I don't think this happens very often, because most people have harden their hearts by the time they die. So, while it is possible for those who torture to go to Heaven, I do not think its likely that they will.

I don't recommend waiting that long. More often, death comes more suddenly and unexpectedly than we can plan for.
But, I do believe God (no quotes) is willing and able to absolve the sins of any who finally leave their self-pride aside and look to Him alone for their absolution. It isn't a matter of WHEN you finally face reality, it is the fact that you have finally given up depending upon your own ego to get you through.

In a very few cases such as the thief on the cross who acknowledged Jesus as the Lord.
I don't think that God would accept those who think that they can do whatever they want during their lives and at the last minute change. If you resist God all of your life, what makes you think that you will have the opportunity to accept him before you die? What makes you think that you will love God in Heaven when you hated him here?
God gives us hundreds of opportunities to accept him during our lives, but with each rejection, we get farther and farther from him until it is impossible for us to repent. Who knows, we might die before we get another chance to accept him.

God will be the judge of that.
The thief on the cross was promised paradise with Jesus. As long as you are breathing and have a mind to think, it would be a good idea to "get er done" now, don't wait.

Yup such is the case with infamous Jeffry Daumer. Ephesians2:8-9 makes it clear that one is saved by grace and not through merit.

Yes, I believe that God forgives everyone. If you think how we as parents, forgive our children here on earth; I can only imagine the amount of forgiveness that He must have for us. As long as we return to Him and ask for forgiveness, He will give it to us. We just need to be sincere, if we are not He will know about it.
