Yes, I've felt like that before. Early grey tea -- to strong on an empty stomach. Try your tea with some food.

Hi, I'm having the same problem and am very unhappy about it because hot tea is one of the greatest joys in my life (pathetic, but I ADORE tea). Anyway - it seems if I drink hot coffee or hot tea it is worse than if I drink it cold. If I add milk it doesn't upset my stomach so much, but I prefer it without milk. I have tried green, white, herbal etc and anything hot seems to cause trouble. I guess even watery soup makes me feel bad sometimes, so perhaps it's the hot liquid and a combination of caffeine or some unknown stomach irritant that is in tea and coffee. Wish I had an answer 'cause then I'd have a possible way to prevent this. I simply can't imagine not drinking tea. :(

I don't know if it has anything to do with caffeine - I can drink coffee (Italian espresso, even) 'til the cows come home, but if I drink "regular" tea, I'll get very queasy. I can drink green tea or herbal tea, but not the regular hot Lipton/Tetley teas that include black or any of the "pekoes". I was also told it may be the "tannins" that don't agree with me.

You are feeling nauseated most probably because your tea is not brewed properly. Even if you use those tea bags water should be boiled just right. Tea brewed with overboiled water makes you feel sick.

I am an RN. We just happened to learn this in med school.

It's a little known fact.

Caffiene is the hardest thing for your stomach to digest.

It is very common to feel ill or have stomach cramps from tea or coffee.

I, TOO, have to watch how much I drink in a day. Too much, makes my stomach upset too.

It's very acidic. Just take an antacid and monitor how much you drink.

Yeah, I can't stand the caffeine. I drink only herbal teas that have no caffeine. Can't drink coffee either.

You may be allergic or intolerant to one of the tea's ingredients. Teas can contain powerful herbs that are not to be taken lightly.
