Why does every electrical gadget seem to have its own power connector?!!?

Come on now. The IEEE is a smart bunch of monkies. Couldn't they come up with like five standard connectors???

Yeah but then we wouldn't have to pay extra for a new frickin charger everytime we upgrade our cell phones! I feel your pain. I have nine car chargers for all the different cell phone I've had in the past six years! What a waste!!

They make more money that way... If one breaks, you have to by their version. Also, this way they don't have to license anyone elses technology.
