How do they think all those animals got there?

Damn that generated a lot of repsonse. I guess I am ignorant as to the difference between Amish and Mennonites. They had the beards and the suspenders and the whole deal.

No insult intended. I thought they shunned technology, but I have seen them at Walmart and other stores. Where do they draw the line?

Were they Amish or Mennonite? They're not stupid, whichever they were. Please be a bit kinder.

Why wouldn't they go? The zoo is very educational and open to the public. I live not too far from where the Amish live. They teach their own kids and want to learn just like everyone else. The difference being with them they wish to lead a simplier life and worship God in their everyday life without most of the technologies that the rest of the world has. (And they probly got a good idea of how the animals got there.) Just because they may be Amish doesn't make them any less human.

The Amish are an attraction just like lions or tigers. People come from miles around just to SEE the Amish exhibit in the Zoo where I am from. They don't require a special feeding diet and are not prone to attempt escape, so they are the perfect Zoo exhibit. I am rather surprised at your question, all of what I just wrote is just common sense that most people could figure out for themselves.

I am at a loss to see the weirdness of this statement. They believe that animals are real. So, what were you doing at the zoo? Amish (and Mennonite) aren't that wierd....they drive vans and use cash registers and I've even seen some talking on cell phones. They're generally nice folks, though they're usually smelly.

What's your point?

They know that technology got the animals there and are keeping them there, but they want to learn--and have the right to learn--just the same as everyone else.

Were they Amish or Mennonites? Mennonites are more liberal.

I've seen Amish people at WalMart and all of them piling out of a Ford Fairlane.

Is this the "Where's the weirdest place you've ever seen the Amish?" question? Because I think I win with the Ford Fairlane.

I saw a photo of a whole pack of Amish at the zoo too,but it does seem a lil strange-I'm glad you asked,I wouldn't think too,but it's a good question. They were walking about in,a store too, same as at the zoo,but not in a totally normal way. They look at you like you're weird, like what are you doing there? But they are the strange ones, since the don't shop there, just walking about like aliens surveying humans.Creeped me out!!!!!

Did you ask them if they were Amish? They might have been Moravians or Mennonites. Why would that be so strange to you. Do you think they are not human beings?

Why would the Amish not want to go to the zoo? They have their own lifestyle, but they are not above the simpler amenities of life.

Some Amish do have a minimum of technology, such as phones and cars. However, you will not see very new cars or phones.

Yeah, I saw some at the zoo a few years ago. It was weird. I took a picture of them while they had their backs turned. Muahahahaha!
