A lot of wine shops (not like Bevmo or hard alcohol stores) will offer classes or know where to go for them. Try going to the small wine stores in the Burlingame and San Mateo downtown areas. Also a lot or recreation centers are offering these types of classes. This is a good cheap place to start and you could probably get leads to more places to try.

Punch it into Google. You are right next to Napa Valley, Wine Country. Check it out. Shouldn't be too hard.

i live in South Carolina, but the local tapas (mediterranean style) restaurant frequently hosts wine tastings and classes. i've enjoyed the social side of being a frequent visitor to a great restaurant. i'd recommend finding the local tapas restaurant and seeing what they have to offer. or for that matter, find any top-notch restaurant and give it a go.
