What makes the christian god so special is the way christians feel about him. But this is a christian-centered question. The same can be said about the gods and believers of all other religions. Will christianity disappear? I don't know. Christians will say NEVER!, confident in their belief. Again, the followers of other religions will do the exact same thing. Is christianity the only true religion? Ask any of the followers of other religions and they will say no, their religion is the only true one. Other religions have their books, some as old or older than the bible.
Religion is very personal, but probably based more on upbringing and environment than any other factor. If raised as a christian, a person will more than likely believe it is the true religion. Not too many people convert from one religion to another. If you follow this line of logic, any religion with sufficient followers will survive bacause they will have off-spring raised in that religion.
The problem is that religions are based on faith. There is no proof available, no empirical evidenced that conclusively shows one is right and the others wrong.
Heaven or hell? No guarantee, only faith. 72 virgins? No guarantee, only faith. And on and on.

Not real sure how you want this answered since you would like us not to reference the Bible which is and has pretty much stood the test of time. it is the oldest book in print and has changed only in the words used not the meanings. God has always been and always will be. That is the true meaning of Christianity. It is based on faith alone and there fore no matter how many times and ways you ask a question like this if you do not believe it will not matter what anyone says you simply won't believe.
In Christ

It's by Faith and not by Sight that we are to believe in God. I have had personal experiences that it was only by the grace of God and a Miracle that I made it through intact.
I don't believe in guarantees. There are no guarantees in this Life or the "next life". The Christ-based religion is based on Faith and Trust, in my opinion, either you have Faith or you don't.
It's a personal experience and a personal relationship with the Christian God that you must have to understand and believe. I hope that you will experience this for yourself and come to an understanding of your own.

Christianity has stood the test of time and is one of the oldest known religions. i am of the christian faith, but i feel that people use this word or the religion as a crutch, someone who is generally a bad person at heart that does not have love and understanding in there life but goes to church and says oh its OK I'm a christian god will forgive me, will god really forgive them if they are not following his commands and living an immoral life with no desire to do good? if you are really a christian you had a life changing event and as hard as you try to go back to your old ways it is really hard because all of a sudden you have this overwhelming sense that it is wrong and an overwhelming need to do gods will. as for me when i dedicated my life truly to the lord it was litter ally the best high ever and i saw angels i was filled with the holy spirit. it is unexplainable but i will never deny god or stop believing and no one will ever convince me otherwise, when you are ready and are truly seeking god he will find you and you too will know that it is not a fad but the eternal truth.

Well, a god who created the entire universe must be quite special. A god who was around for its creation must be rather old, and when someone is THAT old, it's doubtful that they'd ever die. That's my God!
The Bible is separated from other religious texts because it proclaims that Jesus Christ is God's Son, who gave His very life to offer us salvation from the stupid moronic things we do.
As for Christianity being the only true religion... all religions are valid. It's just that we have been told that God's Son was executed, came back to life, ascended to heaven to be with His Father, and that He did those things because He and His Father loved us enough to want to rescue us from ourselves. Unless we accept those simple facts, God will not accept us into His house.
I hope that this answer will help you. Please consider what our Lord has offered you.

There could be a longer answer- but to keep it simple:
I personally don't think of it as "The Christian God" because in point of fact, The God of all three monotheistic religions- Judism, Chstianity and Islam- is the same God. I think the ideology will endure because it's not just Christians who carry the word to the masses.

because it particularly works. How does someone pay interest to a 30 minute provider, get kept, and then his life will develop into thoroughly replaced? i will not imagine of any "faith" that does that. faith might want to substitute someone on the exterior in there gown or mannerisms yet truly the only real God can substitute someone on the interior. also, one third of the bible is committed to prophecy. Many prophecies have already been fulfilled jointly with Daniel speaking about Alexander the finished, to the destruction of the 2d temple, and bigger at present the rebirth of Israel in 1948. there is not any different e book that could boast such precise prophecies, and actually God can comprehend the destiny.

No answer will give you satisfaction if you don't believe in it. It is the same as someone viewing your imagination---what makes it special? You have intimate knowledge of the inner workings of your mind--who can measure it's limits or accurately define what it can conceive? Can you be sure that your imagination dies when your body perishes, or does it continue on transcending natural laws and/or religious interpretations until it evolves beyond our current understanding? In my opinion, God is special because God is beyond Man---we house the potential of God within us and then rush to tear down our ability to ascend to the concept---we seek answers then proceed to disbelieve them one by one. It seems now that while some of us look and say that nothing's out there, God is looking back saying 'What Are You Waiting For?'. God and the Concept of God will exist as long as even one soul believes---free will makes that a certainty---until we find a way to remove that as well...

He's the only God that says He loves you. He is also the only God that died but did not stay dead. He also is the only God to say that nothing we can do will save us to Him it's by His grace we are saved. (I know not all religions use "saved" but it's the same principal. You have to do certain deeds to get certain good things.) There are more but I'll stop there. A great book to read that compares Christianity with other religions is Jesus Among Other Gods by Ravi Zacharias

you've got to be kidding. look around the world at the natural beauty. people mess it up - but the words and ideas and God's laws are the correct moral standards to try and live by. and it's not about hate, it's about love, but people don't really read their books so they listen to spin and don't know.
Also, the Christian God is YHVH Adonai Sabaioth (the Lord of Hosts), the God amongst gods, and history has born that out to be true. Just take a look at the world. YHVH gave us his Son.
