I'd say about 97% of my patients don't need to be numbed while we seat the crown. What you should expect is to feel some cold sensitivity and some "zings" as they take the crown off & on to make any adjustments. The worst part will be when they put the permanent crown on with the "cement" which is room temp. It will feel VERY cold for about 15-30 seconds and then will get better and better. Most patients say they would rather put up with a little bit of cold for a few seconds rather than being numb for hours. Hope this answers your question.

It depends on how much pain you feel.Giving a permanent crown is a painless procedure, but if you are apprehensive then the dentist might just numb you up

they usually don't numb you unless they have to take away some of the gum around the tooth for the crown to fit

It is up to you? Have you ever had dental work done? Did they numb you for that. We ask if they would like it or not. Mainly people do unless they have something big at work they need to get back to or they don't want to pay for it. I would suggest it.

I have had several. They didn't numb me. It isn't painful at all. No problem.

Consult your dentist when you go. Tell him/her your concerns.
