I was guarentied I had antilock brakes when I bought Toyota Corolla 2006. I am concerned about my safety as they are regular brakes. How much of a problem is this?

First off, if you were guaranteed that it had anti-lock brakes, you DESERVE to have them. Talk to the Attorney General's Office in your state.
Anti-lock brake systems are used for a more controlled stop in slippery situations. They pulse the brakes about 15 times a second. When you are in a panic or slippery stop, pump the brakes and keep your cool and steer to the best of your abilities.

It'll decrease safety in an emergency braking. Or ice, snow, etc. The instinct in a skid is to push harder on the brakes. This is opposite of what you SHOULD do. Lock up the tires, and you've lost all control. Ya only get it back by releasing the brakes, till the tires start rollin. ABS does this for you by sensing the skid, and "pulsing" the brakes. If you were guaranteed ABS in yer car, and did'nt get it, I'd go back to the dealer. If it's in writing ya got a real beef with the people.

Anti-lock brakes prevent you from getting into a skid situation,,its really no problem,, the car you got rid of probably had regular brakes !!!
