I identify as a gay male, and my spirituality has caused me nothing but great grief. Everyone I talk to either offers me a sugar coated answer or brushes me off? I need some good answers and not any flaming.

Ok some people have asked if im a practicing gay man, that is engaging in intercourse, the answer is NO.

The Master taught Love.
If you look at the laws of the Old Testament, and you read Genesis or the chapters that come before the laws are given - things were out of control - completely out of control. Take a journey then, and if you pass through many of the towns in those days (not just Sodom - but many) - there was a very good chance part of your reception is either you or your wife getting gang-raped - straight or gay. i promise if you read it, it's there. The circumstance happens again and again in Genesis, and continues after Israel is created. So that's what people did acceptably at that time and it was way out of moral or legal control -- so these laws came in that said no homosexuality - but also addressed all of these other sexual issues too - no adultery, no sex within the family etc. etc. The mistake is people single out one law and don't cross-reference all the others given on the topic - which is sexuality. If there are laws for adultery and homosexuality, and they are in the same category - then nobody really has the right to toss stones at anybody.
More importantly - neither is an unforgiveable sin.
There is lust, and there is Love, and Yeshua Messiah is about Love - and caring that we don't hurt one another (Love your neighbor as yourself), because naturally in the process hurt ourselves.
Read the Psalms - they're incredible. read the New Testament - it's about Love - and the fact that this subject not reallytalked about in the New Testament tells us that by then, people had calmed down from the outrageously immoral days of the Old Testament - and Jesus cares about what's in your Heart above all, which is his measuring rod - and it's 100 applicable to anyone, straight or gay, because Jesus himself said so.

Maybe you should read this: In 1 Corinthians 6:9, Paul wrote, “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind.” The Greek word from which the King James Bible gets the word “effeminate” is malakos, which literally means something soft to the touch, but is used as a negative metaphor to refer to a boy kept for homosexual relations with a man. The “abusers of themselves with mankind” are those men who engage in unnatural sexual relations with other men – homosexuals. That is also how the NASB, the NKJV, and the NIV translate that verse. Also in the New Testament is verse 7 from the book of Jude, defining exactly why Sodom and Gomorrah were punished – homosexuality.

Is it possible to be a Christian who lies? Absolutely. As the Bible doesn't make any distinction between "big sin" and "little sin", it's possible to be both a sinner and a Christian. As a matter of fact, that's one of the core tenets of Christianity: all men are sinners.

The Bible does say that homosexuality (as in, the act) is a sin, but I'm unconvinced that simply being attracted to a male (as a male) is a sin. One of the core beliefs of Christianity is that your life must show the Fruit of the Spirit. If a person is wantonly disregarding the BIble and engaging in homosexual sex (or heterosexual sex outside of marriage for that matter) then their Christianity might be doubted. Ultimately, however, the question of whether or not one is a Christian is determined by God alone.

It's a very personal thing and only you can answer that question for yourself. Do I think it's possible to be a Christian and be attracted to another guy? Absolutely. Do I think it's possible to be a Christian and wantonly engage in sinful behavior? Not likely at all, because Christianity implies a changed life.

I won't sugar coat it to you, I will give you something to consider. Read the first chapter of Romans. It is clear. Having said that it is not my place to condemn. When the Pharisees of Jesus' day brought the woman caught in the action of adultery and tried to get Jesus to tell them to stone her, what happen? Jesus showed her that he didn't condemn her and he told her to go and sin no more. It is called loving the sinner but not the sin. Knowing the difference between what God has created (you) and the sprit behind the sin (the gay life style). I don't not hate people but I do know the sprit behind the sin. Man would tell you that you are born that way but the Word says different. If you are really tring to get real answers without judgement or condemnation, read Romans chapter 1 and contact me. I am not perfect nor do I claim to be but I do read the Word and I believe the Word. I use the example of Christ to Love and Jesus loved. But I wouldn't sugar coat anything. And to those who believe that being good is all you need. that is coming from someone who is only tring to make themselves feel good, it is also (hate to say it but very wrong) Remember You are created in the image of our God and what God has created who am I to condemn.

You can be a gay Christian, as long as you avoid gay sex. I know that's a grief to you, and it hurts, but try to remember the reason. Remember what Paul said, that he counted all his sufferings as unworthy to be compared to that of Christ, and that everything else was rubbish compared to his relationship to Him. I offer you the only comfort I have- to be certain that God is good, and that He never asks anything which is not for love of you. That every pain has a purpose, that all suffering builds character, that all things work together for good to those who love the Lord. This path you have to walk is not your fault, and faith in Him is the only thing that will save you from falling. You are still a son of God, and He will never abandon you nor forsake you, and He will always give you the strength to make it through, if you ask Him. Be strong in the faith, and bless you always.

That is what the bible says. If you wat to be a follower of christ you must stop the practice of homosexuality!

There are plenty of christian groups that say yes. The Episcopalians even have a Gay Bishop in New England. The United Church of Canada will marry a gay couple within that country.

Some churches take Leviticus and Romans really seriously. Others focus more on Jesus' actual teachings in the gospel and his hanging out with what the Pharisees considered sinful: Such as Prositutes and tax collectors. I of course always love the story of "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." In it, the Pharisees are trying to entrap Jesus and bring a prostitute before him. They ask him if Jewish law requires the woman to be put to death by stoning, he agrees but tells them "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Even if a homosexual act is a sin in the eyes of God, that would only mean that one would be equally guilty in the eyes of God as all other humans in sin. And thus, that sin is washed away by the blood of Jesus on the cross.

Being a christian isn't about doing this or doing that. Being a Christian is about following Jesus. Loving Like Jesus, Living like Jesus. If you have sexual tendencies towards men then your temptations are no different than mine (I also have sexual tendencies towards men but I am straight). God has asked us to obstain from sexual intercourse outside the context of marriage. (I have managed for 28 years). Now the whole "gay marriage" idea is a different ball of wax. I usually look in the bible not for things that God doesn't permit necessarily but for examples or similarities of things that God does permit. Never in the bible are we given an example of where homosexuality is OK. There are several places in the bible that give examples of multiple marriages etc and society has shaped what is acceptable and what is not as has God through his word but I repeat never is there an example of homosexuality in a positive light.

I know this isn't what you want to hear. I hope this provides some clarity. No matter what though...God loves you, He created you and he calls you his child. No matter what others call you.

No you can't be a gay Christian. You can say you are and you can choose to 'reinterpret' what the Biblical story of Sadom & Gemorrah means; but that's just changing the Bible to suit your own desires.

What I suggest you do is go looking into an entirely different spiritual path, one which embraces homosexuallity and recognizes that God isn't out to burn your soul in Hell forever because of the brain-chemistry he created you with.
I, personally, follow Wicca; it's a great place to find balance (it actually revolves, more or less, around the balance of nature) and it isn't discriminating against gays (or blacks, or anyone else for that matter).

Yes. Christian means that you believe Jesus Christ was the son of God. If you believe that and you're gay, it's possible to be a gay Christian. I was in a Lutheran church (ELCA) a couple of years ago and the pastor talked about how there was just a big movement in that church to accept gay members. (One possible option for you) Otherwise, don't worry about getting locked into one denomination or church. Form your relationship with God and trust it. There is a type of church called "Unity" that might be a good fit for you. However, there's more than one kind of Unity church and I don't know how to tell you which one. Sorry. I wish you luck!!! Trust God not Man. Religions are created by man. If it doesn't feel right to you, move on.
