This is a hard one but not impossible. I used to be much shyer than I am now, before I praticed talking to people. I made myself join a club and go to meetings. My goal was to have a conversation with at least one person each meeting. Then I practiced talking with them. I think that it is easier that way because you have a subject that you know those people are interested in, depending on what club you join. Practice asking open ended questions to your family, even write a few out-things like "what do you think are the best things about the city you live in" or "what kind of job do you do and how did you get into that". Most people really like talking about themselves and their life. Then you dont really have to talk, you can just listen. In the end it just takes determination to go out and do it. Good luck!

I was that way when I was younger. I just takes lots of practice putting yourself into situations that are slightly more demanding than the last time. I'm a teacher and at first I was even slightly shy presenting to my class. Then I was finally completely comfortable with my class and only nervous the first day of school. Finally, only when an administrater would observe me. Even now, that doesn't faze me, I just pretend they are their and it's just me and the kids. Now I still have a problem socially, but I imagine if I went through the same process I could lick that as well. Good luck. Some of us are just naturally shy because we care intensely.

you need to face your fears and those you are intimidated by with self esteem and confidence. shyness is a sign of self confidence problems so you should look in the mirror everyday and say, "i am the prettiest and most talented person out there, no one scares me." and you could ask friends what they think of you, if they are good friends, itll be positive. trust me, dr. phil would tell you the same thing i did.
