Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

There is a time for everything,
a season for every activity under heaven.
[2] A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
[3] A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to tear down and a time to rebuild.
[4] A time to cry and a time to laugh.
A time to grieve and a time to dance.
[5] A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
[6] A time to search and a time to lose.
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
[7] A time to tear and a time to mend.
A time to be quiet and a time to speak up.
[8] A time to love and a time to hate.
A time for war and a time for peace.

Here are some verses:

1 Corinthians 15:35-56
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
Philippians 1:21-23
Psalm 23

Also keep in mind the best thing you can do for this person is be there for them. Listen to them, support them, pray for them. Losing a loved one for a person is no doubt devastating, especially at first. You may want to say "I know what you're going through." But chances are you don't, even if you also have lost a loved one, Better to be sincere with your friend and focus on them. You don't have to relate, but you do need to acknowledge their pain. Let them cry on your shoulder first if need be and let them release the initial pain. Once they have released some of the initial pain, then after that they will be ready to listen to your words of encouragement.

Best of luck and God bless.

Ecc 12:6 Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern.
Ecc 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Ephesians 2
8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast.

As long as they were a believer, their faith has saved them.

John 5:24
"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.

John 8:51
I tell you the truth, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death."

Luke 23:43
Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."

Romans 8
38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
