Of course I'm against it--because it doesn't exist. A "marriage" is by definition between one man and one woman. Anything else isn't a marriage.

It seems that we are arguing about re-defining the language at this point... I don't get it... a heifer is a heifer, a bull is a bull, and a marriage is a marriage. If you want to call a bull a heifer, I guess go ahead but you'll be very disappointed when you try to milk it!

Why Not?
A Gay Marriage can best be described as 2 halves trying to make a Whole in the case with lesbians, and 2 halves trying to make a whole/hole and using the exhaust as an intake in the case of two males who are just messing with the dead for death is only how one can describe faeces expulsion, pardon my French.
A Marriage cannot be a Marriage when they are both looking to join like forces when like forces repel. It will always be a breach of logic.
One mate needs that other force in order to function as humans or there will be a third force that comes between that may not be easily recognisable, to make it appear as if it works when it adds up to pretense or make-believe.
It is sub-human for the opposite sex to be seen as incompatible when it was meant to balance the relationship with responsibility and undestanding on both sides since one functions as the provider and the other as the vessel for reproduction of the species.
It is a case where 2 halves will never make the whole/hole outside of the rules but live in a dream with the third force unseen

I am NOT against gay marriage. What gives our government the right to say that only straight people may have the opportunity to choose a legal spouse and form a family? Gay people are searching for someone to love, trust and care for just like the rest of us. I say let them marry. Maybe they'll help even out the marriage/divorce rate.

yes. I am against gay marriages. I am a Christian, and I follow the Word of God. The Bible doesn't condone homosexual relations; and anyone who thinks it does, is very mixed up.

Because God never intended for same-sex 'sexual' relationships in the first place....they are an abomination.

And to play devil's advocate --- Even if unbelievers/so-called gay "Christians" wanted to live together in a state of union (which again, I don't consider right...), they shouldn't be trying to steal the term "marriage"...

Marriage was intended for man & woman.(not any other variation...)

**I think my time right now would be spent more wisely praying, than entering into a debate over homosexuality.**

I agree totally with "Caramel!" It's one choice what they do, in regards to lifestyle choices, religious beliefs, but don't try to bring God in on it

...and to counter an earlier statement: "Yes, 'marriage' is a religious thing."

"Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral." Hebrews 13:4 (NIV)

marriage bed kept pure = NO adultery. NO homosexuality.(homosexuality is an abomination; and not 'natural' as God intended sexual relations to be.)

**It doesn't mean homosexuals are bad people...It means they are outside of God's will.**(just in case you were wondering.)

I am against gay marriage. The reason is because it was not meant to be. I am a Christian and in my bible Man and Woman were meant to be together not man and man or woman and woman. I dont approve of gay relationships but whatever people want to do thats their business. So i feel gay people have the right to be together but getting married 2 one another is a totally different story leave God out of it.

Yes I am.
marriages supposed to be unions of two ppl to have a blessed relation where they can act like husband and wife to each other in all ways. being gay enough is weird and against normal human nature! plus it's cursed of course. i mean how could anyone turn into gay! where would be the fun in discovering how it works! so how about having marriages! why should they?! they didnt do a good choice by turning Gay so it can only get worse with marriage. it insults marriaged normal couple for being human beings and for being married. i dnt hate gay ppl, i just feel sorry for them lacking the ability to understand themselves.

Against.

It's a long story why, but it boils down to this: a small minority of people do not have the right to demand a radical change in the fundamental definition of marriage in order to accomodate their "alternative sexual lifestyle."

Besides, everybody -- including homosexuals -- has the right to marry. We just have to marry someone of the opposite sex. That's the rule. As long as homosexuals follow that rule, there's nothing stopping them from marrying.

Also, if "gay marriage" is OKed, then it's only a matter of time before would-be practitioners of bigamy, polygamy, pedophilia, incest, and bestiality will also claim a right to marry based on their "alternative sexuality."

Absolutely not.

Marriage is a civil ceremony requiring no religious definition. No marriage is required to conform to any religion.

Marriage is a proclamation of love and commitment.

Anyone against gay marriage is a either bigoted or uninformed, or both.

A few of the "anti" comments on this question are amazingly ignorant.

Nah, I believe everyone should be equal. Gay people just want the same rights that heterosexual couple get through marriage. It's not like they are forcing them to marry them in churches. Marriage isn't an actual religious institution.

But religious people have a hard time realising that the world doesn't revolve around them.

As said earlier it a bond between a man and woman. This is just being done to legitimize homosexuality. Its also going to just open the floodgates with alimony all over the place.

They can get insurence for their partner. They can do pretty much everything else a married person can do. They just want legitmacy.

And then before you know there will be people arguing that they want to marry their dog.
