Look up the "Azul" wallpaper that is preloaded on Windows XP. Is there proof that this photo is real or if a place like this really exists? The scene is so idyllic and picturesque that it would be a wonder to know if the photo has not been doctored in any way. One cause for speculation is that the island is too small to support enough fresh water for its three coconut trees, especially when so closely surrounded by an ocean (literally!) of salt water. But what pristine water it is! Does any one know the truth behind this image?

I'm going to make the assumption that someone from Microsoft did not go out to take that photo, nor did they take the time to create that photo.

I have a strong feeling they went to a commercial stock agency for it. I'm not pro when it comes to island types or even the probability of whether or not they can produce a certain type of vegetation, but I'd be willing to bet the location is real.

I do believe that for what's all going on, it does look fake. Their is a sailboat (w/ wind engulfed sails) with no apparent wind anywhere else in the image. Now, there is a possibility that the sailboat has a moter (actually, there is a very high possiblity it does), but usually when there is no wind, a sailboat will drop it's sails if running on just a motor.

I haven't been in enough places in the world to say for certain however that it is in the ocean. That could be a lake or a bay somewhere.

I do know, that creating that image in Photoshop would be extremely easy. I could probably do it in 5 minutes.

OMG. Fake. Look at the cut-and-paste palm trees, with orange setting/rising sunlight from the side, not from above. The foreground light on the water is from directly on top. If it s TOO perfect...Three palms on a sand bank constantly beaten by the tide and currents? Nah. This is an "artist s" impression of what he/she WANTS you to see sitting in your office cubicle outside of Buffalo, New York in February... As we become informed in life we can begin to feel the cold steel bars of the dark mental prison so quietly erected around us. Wake up. Try it, it s fun....you might LIKE it. I do.

I actually have Azul as my current wallpaper. It looks that this picture is in fact real because everything fits nicely. The island might be real because this picture looks like if it was taken far away. Anyways, I'm not really sure, but this is really interesting. Thanks for letting me know.

Its fake then. I read your details and you do make a good point. The image must of been computer generated, not tooken in real life. Also, I dont think anywhere in the world today would look that...nice.
