Because the flesh is weak .... People get all hot and bothered and high and mighty they forget what it is to be humble before the Lord in worship and haveing a meek and peaceful heart. There is a time to stand up and shout (for Christ himself did Yell and holler when the time came ( when he stormed the temple and the money changers)) and there is a time to be meek. But it is ALWAYS time to respond in Love.... sometime love needs to put it's foot down in someones face... and sometime it needs to Hold on tight to the person ... and sometimes it's to let them go and pray....
We need to pray for all our brothers and sisters to spend more time at the feet of their savior in prayer and worship... and pray they would be driven to show him to the world...
May God bless you lil sis... the Lord guide you and give you peace

If you simply tried to get people to focus on the positives that Christianity has to offer, a lot of people would come back. The Bible thumping, constant criticism, threats of damnation, self-righteous preaching all get old after a while.
Most people just can't accept the Bible literally, there's just too many things that don't make sense in today's world. Were the Church to accept this and admit the Bible can be a useful guide to a good and happy life, but is not the true Word of God, it would probably appeal to a lot more people today. To put it in evolutionary terms, adapt or die.
Unfortunately that small percentage of small minded Christians are also the most vocal, and they're the reason others don't like Christians in general.

Do you know that Jesus taught twice as much on hell than He did on heaven?
Did you know that Jesus number one subject taught on was money?
Jesus said REPENT, for the kingdom of God is at hand. The only way to repent is to know the consequences and effect of sin. Once people recognize sin, they can repent and ask for forgiveness, then their heart is ready for the loving God.
You want to know the REAL reason why nonbelievers are not accepting Jesus so openly? (this is as a whole, not personally)
1. The church is not living a holy life.
2. The church is looking for the hands of God and not the face of God.
3. The church wants His blessings first, not Him.
4. The church is not carrying His glory, hence, bringing God outside the walls. It is trying to bring those to the church.
I have found on some of the answers @ Yahoo! is that personal views overrule the authority of God's Word. This brings ineffectiveness to those who are hungry for spiritual food but lacking to ability to deliver it.
There was a survey done by an evangelist (don't remember who) about how many people witness outside the church. Only 27% responded yes. Then they asked the other +/-70% why they don't witness. Their No. 1 answer?
Not enough Jesus in them to make an effective witness.
When people see you going through trials and persecution and you show your commitment and trust in God, they watch. When you continue to press on, then God comes through and you have just witnessed strongly.
Study up on Charles Finney. Compare him to others, even Dwight Moody during his time. Moody's conversion rate was around 30%. Finney's was almost 90%. Why? Let me give one documented instance.
Finney visited a factory where one person mocked him. He witnessed to this person and the word spread so quickly, the plant temporarily shut down while Finney held an impromptu service and everyone got saved. Over 300 people, I believe.
Finney held no punches back.
Jesus did everything in love but never compromised. Never.

That's absolutely true and I agree with u. (Re: Romans 2, if u haven't already) Christians do that because they're ignorent to what their purpose is. They spend too much time trying to get saved people saved, and not nearly enough time trying to help the person who doesn't know God but needs God. This happaned when christians start becoming secluded and stop going out and having effect on the world. For example christian schools, if you think about it wouldn't it be better if those christian kids were inside of normal schools that way they could have influence on there peers, the bible says let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your father in heaven. It doesn't say let your light so shine before christians, what good is that doing. When christians develope this parochial mindset there's not much else for them to do but turn inwards and start biting at each other. Your right we shouldn't tear each other down, but lift each other up. When we do that, it makes the body of christ look really bad to the world, and that can't afford to happen when were supposed be representing God.
A lot christians who do those kind of things are stuck on a holiness mindset. They think that you have to try to be saved and try to be rightous. When the bible clearly states that all men have fallen short of the glory and that to him that worketh for rightousness is the reward not reckoned of grace but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. We are made rightous through Jesus Christ not by our own works.
- Sorry if I got a little off topic, I hope I answered your question or gave a good resonse.

Christian, I chooses to believe but god leaves me here to work and build a society that he will destroy, why not take me to heaven now, instead of working for nothing
Christian, I choose not to believe but god leaves me here to work and build a society that he will destroy, why not throw me to hell now, instead of working for nothing
Christian, there is no heaven or hell after you die, its here as you live, you make your heaven or hell, we are truly prisoners of our ourselves, we don't choose who we will be are what we will become, we try to choose to be what we want, but do we become that, you may choose to be a doctor, but you are to scared to be a doctor and become a teacher instead, you may choose to be a preacher but you turn out a womanizer
Christianity is the problem in society because it teaches sin and since everyone according to Christianity a sinner can not change people remain sinners, because is part of the society they built, so no matter how much you try you will always be a sinner, so at the time of you death, the last thing you think about was "I wish I would have had sex with so and so" to hell you go, sin, how could a rich person be a christian, its impossible, how can a poor person be a christian its impossible, because both love money, "Humans Food"

I got your message.
I'm sorry, I thought that when you said that Jesus could show us THE good heated and loving way, you were saying that was the only way.
Even though I don't agree with your beliefs, I still feel that people can believe what they want as long as they don't hurt others. Some Christians (Or people who claim to be Christian) use very hurtful remarks towards non Christians. Its important that we learn to live together because Wicca is the fastest growing religion in the US and we should be building bridges of peace otherwise I fear that it could turn violent.
Blessed Be.

You asked Jesus into your heart at age SEVEN?? Seven-year-olds can't legally drive, vote, smoke, or drink alcoholic beverages because they lack the mental capacity for dealing with these things, so how the heck could you have made a decision like that? You probably still believed in Santa Claus, so believing in Jesus was just one more fantasy! At age 7, you believed what mommy and daddy (or some other trusted adult) told you to believe.

You make a good point.
Genuine Christians don't exist to bash others.
We tell what we know and others accept or reject.
Jesus did that.
Christians on a "high horse" are not following the example of Jesus.
There are too many people going by the term 'Christian' that give a bad name to Christianity.

That's one reason it's so hard to convince an atheist to become a Christian again. Consider us slightly paranoid, if we're going to change our beliefs, is it going to be to a God we've been told all of our atheist lives that hates us and will make us burn in hell for all of eternity? Will he suddenly forgive us, or are we just going to look like fools who were too weak to stand up for our beliefs.
