Does anyone know of an alternative? There are a hundred different whiskeys, irish creams, vodkas, etc...But I've never found an economical alternative to Grand Marnier in the same proof rating and flavor. Any suggestions from anyone?
Thanks.

I'm wanting something to drink when relaxing after a long hard day at work, and I'm sitting around the house with the wife and kids. Not something to get torn out of my frame on. I'm a carrer Marine. Trust me. I KNOW how to get ripped. I'm just looking for something to put in the liquor cabinet that won't cost me $150 a week to enjoy.

Grand Marnier is cognac with orange flavour. Cointreau is an overpriced triple sec. I would go with Gran Gala which is less than half the price.

Is it the orange flavor of Grand Marnier that you like or something else about it?

You could try Cointreau. It is similar (has a mellow orange flavor), though probably not that much cheaper. Try a "mini" of Cointreau and see what you think.

I have also tried (and quite liked) an orange flavored liqueur from France called "Napoleon Mandarine". It can be hard to find, but it has an excellent body and flavor.

You might also like a glass of Cognac with a twist of orange.

If all else fails, I'm sure that someone makes a generic version of Grand Marnier, which might be worth a try, but unfortunately, you usually get what you pay for with liquor. ; )

Good luck!

As a Grand Marnier fiend, the ony thing that has come even remotely close and cheap is Phillips Apricot brandy. Really. Just give it a chance. It is a little different taste, but has that familiar warmth and sweetness. Take more than one sip.

Be a real man, regular domestic beer is the only way to go, just keep drinking it, you'll get used to it.
