I have lost 42 pounds since changing my eating habits. I eat a cup of cereal and cup of soy milk every morning. This flushes me out in about an hour. I sometimes eat a bowl of generic oatmeal and a piece of fruit ,
I eat a Lean Cruisine meal for lunch along with a 100 calorie sweet snack or a fruit cup.
Stay away from creamy sauces.
Beware of things that say low fat. Sometimes they are just as fattening as the regular.

Read labels! Try yogurt, anything in its own wrapper (banana, apple, grapes, you get the idea), air popped pop corn without oil or butter. Basically anything you have to prepare yourself that isn't loaded with sugar or fat. No prepackaged convenience foods would be a good start.

And as my Jewish, non politically correct chiropractor says, "no fat people went to the gas chambers!" Four words are guaranteed to help you lose weight... Move More, Eat Less. That's all it takes. Yes, its hard, but it is also that simple.

RE above question... no watermelon, very high in sugar, that I understand. But no pineapple? It is one of the highest in bromelin, excellent for a sluggish digestion so that you get the most vitamins and minerals possible out of your food.

How about some oatmeal for breakfast? It's inexpensive and really good for you (fiber, low fat, etc.). Some of the pre washed mixed salad greens are good too. Chicken breasts seasoned with McCormick grill seasonings (I think there's 4 different flavors) or jerk seasoning would be good with a baked sweet potato for dinner.

You could go to the library and check out some cook books that you think are interesting. No cost and if you don't like the recipes, it's not a big deal- just bring the book back.

Avoid red meat. Get some turkey at the deli and some cheese that is part skim milk to make sandwiches. Whole wheat bread is so much healthier than white bread. I like Sara Lee bread. Don't forget veggies (maybe some low-fat dip if you can't just have them plain), fresh fruit, yogurt, milk, flavored water instead of soda (Propel is very good), buy baked chips instead of fried (they can get pricey though), eggs, margarine instead of butter, low-sugar juice (I think that Tropicana makes a low-sugar orange juice), reduced fat wheat thins or Triscuit crackers are good as snacks.

Basically look for anything that has reduced fat, low-fat, reduced calories, and low sugar if you're trying to lose weight.

When I was pregnant a fav of mine was english muffin with margirine and cheese melted on it and a veggie sausage patty in the middle. You toast the english muffin and butter it (or not-and I always got the whole grain kind of english muffin) and then I melter a slice of cheese on one half with the broiler in the oven (the microwave does not do it the same) and thaw a sausage patty in the mike at the same time. Add eggs if your ambitous or want to make it more of a heavy snack. It is really good. It is still a favorite.
