How much do you have? The sky is the limit, but you should never spend more than you have. You can have a very nice wedding on a few thousand dollars, but you will probably only be able to invite 10 people. You can do an adequate one for less, but I'm all for fewer guests, better class wedding.

It really depends where you live and what time of year you get married. If you get married from April to September, it will be wedding season and everything costs more. If you are willing to marry off season, serve food and use flowers that are IN season, and are willing to keep your guest list short, you can really have something nice for a reasonable price. Another thing that will bring down the price is if you know people who can cater, dj, provide music, bake, or do flowers as a wedding gift that can go a long way.

Catering can be about 40-50 per head, so you can see how additional guests can add up. Photos can be the biggest expense depending how much coverage and what type of package you want. Think over 1200. A reasonable range for a dress (certainly it can be more expensive) is $75 (from Gunne Sax outlet) to $1200 (mine was about 500 bucks). I spent well under 10k in 1995 for having 75 guests (which is my recommended maximum of guests).

The trick is to not spend more than you have to for quality services. If you do your homework, avoid impulse and emotional spending, and budget yourself you can have an affordable and nice wedding.

The WHOLE wedding with attired included, or are you talking about just the reception? From start to finish, you could be looking at several things:

1. Wedding dress (anywhere from $99-$2000+)
2. Bride's maid gowns ($100-$500 each)
3. Groom tuxedo (rent $50-100, buy $900+)
4. Groom party (same rental rate each)
5. Limo rental ($500)
6. Restaurant ($150-200 per head)
7. Church ceremony ($200)
8. Studio photography ($500)
9. Videotographer ($300)
10. D.J. ($300)

I'm sure I'm leaving some things out, but these are the main jists of the wedding... so you're looking at about $18500 for mid range (100 guest) to easily over $20000 if you have over 100 guests.

I'm putting mine on for $5000. I cut costs because I reserved a beautiful park by a river with a pavillion for $120. I know some state and city parks will rent out for really cheap for the entire day. We asked a friend of ours who is great at speaking in front of people to be our DJ and MC. We have family members who are going to play music for the ceremony and we have our music list for the reception on my fiance's laptop. I spent the most money on my dress and the photograper. (I don't reccommend skimping on the photographer because you want really good pictures, trust me! But if you know a photographer, even better.) I am having a catered "appetizer reception", but I had to keep my guest list under 100. I am also making all of my decorations and favors (with coupons for Michaels Arts and Crafts, you can find them in bridal magazines.)

You can ask close friends and family to cater a "dessert" or "appetizer" reception and it can still be really nice. You can make all your invitations, decorations and favors, or ask someone artistic to help you if you're not inclined. Basically it depends on how much work you want to put into it. If you have $10000 or more you can do a lot less work and ask for a lot fewer favors from people than I have, but don't spend more than you have. Too many people go into debt for their wedding and that is no way to start a marriage.

I have also heard of people registering for their honeymoon activities so that they can spend the money they have on the ceremony.

My future sister-in-law put hers on for $3500, and it was really pretty. She had it at a nursery.

Bridesmaids should pay for their own dresses, groomsmen for their tuxedo rental. The groom's family is responsible for the rehearsal dinner and your bouquet. Even if your parents aren't helping you, you could probably request that they buy your dress or some other major expense to relieve your budget a bit too.

depends, legal fees are just around $200. But sky is the limit. Still you can do a decent wedding $2000.

IT ALL DEPEND ON WHAT YOU CALL NICE. YOU CAN GO TO DISCOUT STORES IN THE MALL AND GET A WEDDING DRESS ON CLEARANCE. YOU CAN HAVE A FRIEND TAKE PICTURES FOR YOU, ALSO YOU CAN HAVE SOMEONE YOU KNOW MAKE YOUR CAKE THIS WILL CUT DOWN ON THE COST AND YOU STILLL WILL HAVE A NICE WEDDING.

NOt counting the honeymoon, it depends on the specifics. But it could cost $500 to $30,000

We did ours for about $6,000 and it was a great time with great friends. $600 for the hall, $550 for the band, buffet for dinner...I forget what all else. When we were researching everything we read seemed to say you could not escape for less than $20k.
