I want to get baptized at our next convention which is in August. I want to tell the elders that and I was wondering if its wrong to call my PO up to tell him since I wont see him for a while and I dont want to wait any longer, possibly stopping the chances for me getting baptized at this convention.

FYI I tried to tell him last night at meeting but the second it was over all the elders went to the back and had a meeting so I couldnt then.

Im going away on vacation for a little bit and I dont want to wait til I come back to mention it to the elders so Im just wondering is it a bad thing to call him up to tell him rather than face to face?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with telephoning the presiding overseer to inform him that you hope to be baptized at the next Jehovah's Witness convention. He will appreciate having the advance notice to start scheduling your reviews of the baptism questions.

While it is uncommon, at times the PO will ask if you have a preference for which three elders will perform your reviews. Have three names ready just in case he asks (to avoid any delay).

Incidentally, don't tell them that you got advice from Yahoo Answers. Jehovah's Witness publications and the congregation are really the only accurate sources for information about Jehovah's Witnesses.

Hi! I agree with "the mom." If you've dedicated your life to doing God's will and you're ready to symbolize that dedication by water baptism, then by all means, let the PO know as soon as possible, even if you have to phone him. Congratulations! It's always so encouraging to hear that everyday more and more are streaming to the "mountain of Jehovah."

"And it must occur in the final part of the days that the mountain of the house of Jehovah will become firmly established above the top of the mountains, and it will certainly be lifted up above the hills; and to it all the nations must stream.”—Isaiah 2:1, 2.

I would think your presiding overseer would be delighted to hear that you are so determined to be baptized! By all means, call him (at a decent hour) and let him know your wishes. Things should all fall into place after that! Congratulations!!

No, it's not wrong. If you really want to get baptized in your next convention, then go ahead and call him. You can also explain to him why you had to call him. I'm sure he'll understand. Maybe you can make arrangements to talk about it.

Honestly your going to have to talk to the elders about that. And have a wonderful baptism! I never did it myself but it's a wonderful experience just to watch.

I really don't see a problem with calling him to discuss it.

I know you have been told that you belong to Jehovah's organization, and that if you listen to anyone else, it is of the devil, but I plead with you to please consider the following.

Jehovah Witnesses claim that they are all prophets, and that their organization is the only true way of Jehovah God. Yet, they have been wrong many times on the issue of predicting when Armaggedon will happen. I know they do not make a habit of setting dates anymore, and that they say that they have never made such predictions to their members. But, the documented facts are there, and I can say from personally having dealt with them during my years in High School back in the 70's, that they predicted that 1975 would be the year of Armmegedon. According to Deuteronomy 18, they are a false prophet, who is not to be feared or listened to.

Jehovah Witnesses, as you know deny the deity of Jesus Christ. The New World's Translation of John 1:1 (and the word was a god) is not consistent with the Greek structure of the sentence. You will also notice in Colossians 1 16-18, where Paul tells of Christ as creator of all things, that the New World Translation has added the word "other" in brackets, openly signifiying that it is not in the original Greek.

Jehovah Witnesses say only 144,000 of the anointed classwill inherit paradise in heaven, and the rest will have to earn eternal life here on earth. They used Revelation 6 for their prooftext, but ignore the fact that those who are sealed are all of Jewish heritage, with 12,000 being from each Isreal's tribes. I know they will say this is figurative language, but this is a very weak argument.

Jehovah Witnesses say that their governerning body in Brooklyn are God's slave who gives out truth in due in due season. Yet, they have backtracked and changed their docrtines many times, as it conveniently suited their purpose. 1 John 4 tells us not to believe every spirit, but to test all spirit for not all spirit is of God.

For each book you sell for a quarter going door to door, and then report your earnings to your local Kingdom Hall, your Brooklyn headquarters is making .23 cents profit.

I am a Born-Again Christian. The Bible makes it clear that salvation is a free gift, and that all teaching is to be tested by it. I know they will tell you I am of the swine class, and that you risk being disciplined or disfellowshipped for listening to this, but I ask you to think why they tell you that. Don't be baptised into the name of this false prophet organization. Come to personally know true salvation, by coming to the one whose sacrifical death bought you full pardon for your sins, the Lord Jesus Christ. He was not a reincarnation of the Archangel Michael, he was the very incarnation of Jehovah God in human form (Hebrews 1:1-4). I have done through research on the history of the Watchtower, and would be happy to email you my studies if you would like to consider this further. My prayers will be with you.
