Why is Satanism not considered a religion?
I myself am pround to say that i follw the rules of Satanism, and before anyone says anything about "oh that is so wrong" i want to say that Satanism IS NOT about devil worship or sacraficing goats or virgins.
Very mis understood religion. I have had visits from many Christian groups trying to convert me to Christianity, and it bothers the hell out of me. I dont go up to them saying "become a Satanist" People get confused with Satanism and Devilworship. Satanists DO NOT believe in the devil. There is no such being, Satanism is also not linked with christianity, one thing Satanists believe in is respect others and their beliefs and carry on with your own life. It is against all forms of harm and suicide, it encourages the follower to discover his or her own calling. I just want to know, why is it so bad?

Okok, to the person who said Satanism is linked to christianity..im afraid your wrong :) Satanism is completly different from Christianity, it is believes that christianity used the "Satan" from Satanism to create an evil being.
There is no such creature as Satan. Satanists believe in letting each person have their own beliefs without forcing them on others, so why bring passages from the bible into this? why have to use the internet as your source of information?

LOL sorry but i like the way people are turning to the internet for back up..very very VERY informative huh..the internet *claps* Just because most people here dont agree with others beliefs, they go on about a religion they only understand through negative name calling my a mainstream following. I have said this..i dont know HOW many times, but Satanism is not related to christianity.

"EK" and "Sometime TO" have got it right. Satanism is the worship of Satan. Sort of the whole "definition" thing going on there. Sorry. =^)

However, you are absolutely right, the church of Satan doesn't worship Satan. So, in reality, you don't worship Satan.

Your original question was, why is Satanism wrong?

First of all, I'm glad you admit to it being wrong (as implied in your question). And to answer your question, Satanism is wrong for the same reason that all other wrong religions are wrong: they aren't right.

You see, they all conflict. Even the Baha'i Faith (that says all religions are all right) is a wrong religion because it conflicts with the religions that give any sort of absolute statement (which they all do, including Baha'i). So you can't have a bunch of right religions. It's impossible. The only way to have a bunch of right religions is if parts of them are wrong. And if that's the case, you get to pick and choose what parts are wrong and, thus, you are making a new religion (which is an origin belief based on absolute statements). That religion is probably not the right one (because you just made it up).

So, how does this relate? Well, we've just proven that there is either no right religion and they are all wrong, or there is one right religion and the rest are wrong.

Since it's smarter to pick a religion (especially if eternal life and eternal damnation are on the line) and not make up your own (which isn't going to be the right religion), let's assume one is right.

So, what's the right religion? Christianity. Why?

If God exists and He created a religion, it would be the oldest religion. It would prove that it is true. And it would be alive and doing very well today. So, what's the oldest religion that has proof and is still a major religion today? Christianity? Well, actually, it's Judaism!!!

How does it prove itself? Well, half the messianic prophecies came true (thus Christianity is true), there have been miracles, science and archeology are constantly backing up the Bible, saved believers feel the Holy Spirit (only proof to individuals after they believe), and nothing else makes any sense (and don't get me started about that religion where their god was an energy that decided to start creating stuff that grew out of nothing: macro evolution).

So, back to your question: why is Satanism wrong?
(1) Is it the oldest religion? Why the heck would some infinite being decide to make a religion in my lifetime?
(2) Is it a major religion? Obviously not if most people don't know anything about it.
(3) Has science proven it? Well, first you have to go out on a limb and make some prophecies and major statements. (Take Mormonism for example: all their prophecies and claims that have been proven wrong.)

And the final answer to the question...

Why is Satanism Wrong?

Because it's not right. It's not the one right religion.

In asking such a quesiton, you also have to ask why it's so right. The same goes for Christianity. Why is it right, and why is it wrong? Everyone has their own views on all types of what I would rather call "beliefs" rather than "religions". I was raised to believe in God and follow Him. My family is mostly of Roman Catholic following. Myself, I don't follow a certain religion. I find it a waste of time. I see it as people spending all their time in something that is made mostly of speculation and "faith", that they're missing out on a wonderful and interesting life. That's just my point of view. I don't have any problem with a person's beliefs or religious preference. What I DO have a problem with however, is when they attempt to push, persuade, or persecute me for my own beliefs.

Well to a Christian the idea of becoming more than you are, through yourself is against the Bible. Christianity is about being an average, normal sinner and not having aspirations like those purposed in satanism. Its the tower of Babel trying to become like God in a way. So you can't be a Christian and a satanist. Its dualism. There is nothing inherently evil about it as far as I can tell, no sacrificing of babies ;-) , but the concepts of Christianity and satanism do not mix and are contrary.

I think you mean you're a sadist not a satanist, or you are something else entirely and misuse the word "satanism".

Sadism -
1 : a sexual perversion in which gratification is obtained by the infliction of physical or mental pain on others (as on a love object) -- compare MASOCHISM
2 a : delight in cruelty b : excessive cruelty

Satanism -
1 : innate wickedness : DIABOLISM
2 : obsession with or affinity for evil; specifically : the worship of Satan marked by the travesty of Christian rites

The worship of Satan is foolishness as Satan cares only about the destruction of man, as he was a murderer from the beginning. His greatest delight is when someone kills themself, for that is total and utter rejection of the life God has given you.

This is why he will use the antichrist (the beast) to turn the hearts of men, knowing good and well that they will all suffer death and be judged as he has been.

They probably assume that because it has the name "Satan" in it that you are following Satan. I have gotten devil-worshipping and Satanism confused in the past as well but have never flat out told someone that they were going to hell. What are your main beliefs? Do you go to church? Do you worship God? If you can email me the answers I would greatly appreciate it. I really want to know.

yeah I agree with some of the ideas of the Anton LaVey version of satanism...I think the one thing he pointed out was how stupid the christian religion is...LaVey believed you treated others like you would want to be treated until they cross you

That is not a bad way to believe....I believe the golden rule ....not in some good and evil fight between too unseen douche bags...you made that point when you said Satanists don't believe in the devil....because to believe in the devil you must believe in God

okay you practice satanism and yet say there is no such being. You need to really find out where the word SATAN ISM CAME FROM. The bible. Satan was an angel of god until he disobeyed god. Then he was sent to hell. Satan is alive on this earth and leads you into your own thinking and ways of doing things all sinful. You need guidance now.

Satanism: "Obsession with or affinity for evil; specifically : the worship of Satan marked by the travesty of Christian rites."

Satanism: "The worship of devils (especially Satan)."

Seems you're the one who's confused about Satanism.

Satanism is bad and it IS linked with Christianity. It wouldn't be called Satanism if Satanists didn't worship Satan. Your beliefs sound like general paganism to me, and there's nothing wrong with that. But there is definitely something wrong with Satanism, because it is the worship of evil.

Because it's a religion and relationship is always better than religion. Religion causses us to feel good about ourselves. Any religion. Trouble is, all the while we're doing religious things,we miss out on what we were called to be...children of God.
Jehovah God created you in His own image and longs for fellowship with you. Fellowship with Him cannot be obtained with Him through religious acts. He came to earth as Jesus, and died on the cross so that we might now Him as not only our God, and Lord and Master, but our friend.
He desires sweet fellowship with you. You won't find it in satanism, mormonism, catholcism, or any other ism....you can only find it by surrendering your life to Him and asking Jesus to be Lord of your life. Relationship is always better than religion.
