If I had to live in Ontario, I'd live as close to the edge as possible--Ottawa. I think they have jobs and culture. A vehicle, yes most probably anywhere outside Toronto you'd need one.

For jobs and Culture, Toronto! Lots of ethnic areas to explore - Little Jamaica, Chinatown, Little India, Koreatown, Gaytown, Little Portugal and Little Italy. Great diversity of restaurants, theatre, music, and culture. Jobs pay more in Toronto - as a secretary I made close to $40K. but watch out - rents are high in proportion. You're looking at about $750 to $1,000 for a basic one-bedroom apartment.

You don't need a vehicle - we have a transit system called the TTC that is one of the best in the world. The buses run 24/7 to most areas, and the trains run from 6 am to 2 am. I lived there 35 years w/o a car. Also parking is very expensive - you're better off to rent a car if you need one, and use the TTC for day to day travel.

I left TO about 3 years ago for a small town, but I still visit from time to time. It's a great city!

Definitly Ottawa. Lots of people, lots of culture, LOTS of things to do! It's our capital so its the cleanest city in Ontario, and prettiest!

You don't need a vehicle there even though it's a easy city to get around once you know the area a bit. But there's TONS of buses so you can just buy a bus pass :).

The only thing is rent kinda sucks there. But that all depends where you are. For example if you were to compare Ottawa's rent to Toronto's... Ottawa is cheap.

And Ottawa doesn't have a bad crime rate like Toronto does. Yes of course theres still crime becuase its a big city but its not bad.

:)

I'd say Ottawa, for sure. I was born and raised in Toronto, and I have lived in London, Oshawa, and Peterborough, before settling in Ottawa. Depending on what you do for a living, there is a fair amount of employment opportunities here. There is a decent public transit system, their adding a light rail line in the next couple of years, you can definately get around without a vehicle. It is an exceptionally clean city and relatively relaxed. Good night life in the market area, museums galore, tons of parks and trees, rivers and lakes. It is a beautiful valley that is relatively inexpensive to boot.
