Any number of reasons. Topping the list are people who simply want to help others. From there: people want to show immaturities by slinging insults or show how silly they are.
Does Yahoo Answers cure boredom...well....it lessens it: the cure for boredom is locked away in a vault deep inside Area 51.

it is a good stress relief for me; i get to see what others think or need help in and i can offer my opinion and maybe if i'm lucky get a best answer...it is addictive to find a good question that i can answer and feel good about.
i'm a woman...i'm opinionated and how great to say whatever i want b/c you dont know me and my opinion is simply that...my opinion...no judgement passed!
